Shadowfell Weapons for leveling - Get them before they're gone.

(...from the AH, I meant to say. Ugh.)

Hey, gang.

I'm sure anybody who's leveled a main and an alt knows this but I figured this would be something to pass along to players who are still leveling and have Astral Diamonds to burn at the AH or Gloomwrought Crates from Nightmare Lockboxes.

The Shadowfell weapons make leveling a more complicated toon much smoother and an easy toon an absolute joke to level due to their +10 levs worth of weapon DPS compared to a same level rare weapon. The math-heads will tell you that, pound for pound, raw weapon DPS (especially when the gain can be up to 3 digits) is something to look out for..sometimes even over certain stats that would otherwise be important.

The item levels are spread out in levels of 10, it seems so search for the names on the AH and then search by those levels for the item that you're looking for. I took my diamonds and bought a couple for each toon to sit in their mailbox waiting for them to hit the required level to use them. Here's what to keep an eye out for (the ones you want to buy have a message about what level they act as in the item description):

Guardian Fighter: Gloomwrought Longsword

Devoted Cleric: Symbol of Shar

Great Weapon Fighter: Shadowfell Greatsword

Trickster Rogue: Shadow Stiletto/Dagger of Shadow (Shadow Stiletto can be obtained 2 levs earlier)

Control Mage: Orb of the Fugue

There are some nice Offhand & worn-gear items as well such as the Gloomwrought Shield and Shadowfell Swordknot but the real punch will be in the weapons as they'll not only give you a little more face-roll to your leveling due to you hitting like a truck but will also free up your options for stat gear in some cases since you won't need all that power (not the greatest stat anyways and these weapons usually come with a metric pewp-ton of the stat) for extra damage as a paper-cut from your new weapon will make the enemy's finger explode. :O

Good luck, all and feel free to pipe in with weapons I may have missed. :) (And sorry for the misleading title and mix-ups in the OP!)

So these rage inducing weapons don't drop for gloomwrought weapon crates anymore?

Sigh...no, that's just me proving the foolishness of thinking I could type a decently thought-out post while having a semi-interested but eventually wiggly toddler on my lap while I'm writing up a title and mixing up rare and BiS gear. Gawd, I'm getting old. Thanks for the heads-up and I'll edit the OP now.

I see, yeah the shadow stilleto rogue ones are the most rage inducing in pvp since you can use feasibly 2 lvl 39 dagger dps/stats at lvl 29 (so in the 20-29 tier pvp bracket). I believe it was designed this way to instill even more rage and hatred towards the rogue at the early levels of the game.

Sounds like a great idea... buy all these weapons off AH, make a thread saying how great they are, relist...

You sound jelly... I'm pretty sure he was just being informative, and if he made any AD off of it. Good for him, still might have informed someone that was wondering why their dps was sorely lacking compared to others of the same class/level.

Hah. It is, I guess, but not really my style. I make AD from 5 praying/Leadership toons, selling Coal Wards from the Celestial Coffers, and selling leftover Zen I didn't transfer to CO and STO as well as the stipend I still have from my Sucker Of The North pack. I just thought that this could help some players leveling their toons but I guess I was a lil selfish posting this after I bought a bunch of these weapons at fairly cheap prices for my 4 alts. :)

Only problem with these weapons is you're looking at a cost of about 100X what most weapons are in that level range :P A lot of the mid-lower leveled ones are literally in the hundreds of thousands. Very nice weapons though, but are they worth that cost for 12 levels you can do in an afternoon?

Yah they didn't use to be so pricey.. You can still get them from opening gloomwrought weapon crates when level appopriate also.. could be sometimes cheaper if you're lucky

I've been a mix of diligent and lucky as far as prices go. For the toons I wasn't planning on playing right away, I just parked them and their portable altars at the AH and checked for their specific weaps with every prayer/prof renewal. Doing this, I ended up paying between 4k-15k for some of these weaps as opposed to the 75k some people were selling them for. When you think about how many blue weapons with the raw DPS you actually want (as opposed to just stat-weapons w/lower raw DPS that some sellers still charge just as much or more for for certain classes & level brackets) that this will replace in those 10 levels, it's not a bad trade-off for adding a couple of extra seconds between prayer/prof logging. Granted, I imagine this thread won't exactly help the prices come down. :p
