I searched and couldn't find what this game considers to be low end or insufficient. My wife and I are running gtx 560 256 bit 2 gig mem yet Protectors Enclave seems to crash with video out of memory errors. Is there some place to find what card is recommended?

Are you running a 32bit OS?

There's your problem. Get a 64 bit OS. Those out of memory errors are not you running out of RAM, they are the OS being unable to allocate memory addresses because of the limitations of 32bit operating systems.

Sorry there's no easy solution :/

I have the exact same video card. Geforce 560 GTX, but I forgot if I had the 2GB model or not. But either way. I don't have any problems and I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.

Did you update to the latest nVidia drivers? If not, that could be why.

Or do like what the other guy said, upgrade to a 64-bit OS. When games are optimized for 64-bit, they run so much better and I have a feeling that Neverwinter is optimized for 64-bit because Protector's Enclave runs faster, better and is a lot more stable than Stormwind in World of Warcraft! ***and World of Warcraft is an 8 year old outdated graphics ugly game!!!!!*

Why do I only go under 30 FPS in WoW's Stormwind but I get over 45 FPS in NW's Protector's Enclave and PE looks a billion times nicer with more polygons, higher resolution textures, better lighting effects than Stormwind?

Maybe it's cause WoW's engine is extremely old and never optimized for 64-bit! :P

(edit) Actually I just remembered that WoW's Stormwind isn't instanced. If there's 300 people in Stormwind, then there's 300 people in Stormwind! But in PE, once an instance is filled with about 100ish players, it creates another copy and fills that one instead to help reduce server bandwidth. But either way... like I wrote above, I have the same video card and I have 0 problems in PE.

XP will always be my favorite operating system, despite that however I always update for technologies sake. Windows 7 is really micro$ofts best since XP. Do yourself a huge favor and dont even look in to Windows 8. Unless you have handhelds, tablets, and tabletops. Also a huge amount of patience as drivers arent fully developed quite yet.

There are programs out there that falsify ur graphics data, my bro uses one. His gameplay is rubbish though.

And what exactly does that mean and what can it accomplish in the scenario that OP gave? The only solution is upgrading to a 64bit OS.

I'm curious to know what makes you think a 64bit OS would actually help?

Read post number #4 please. And I know it's the issue because I've been over the same thing in multiple games and programs.

Its the OS . my rig has a 580 GTX but 32 bit windows 7 . My Gf has a 560 GTX and 64 bit , we are on the same network and I would crash sometimes the first day of the event . After the patch it stopped but I still took longer after it ended before I could move , and she could move right away . And she still complains that my computer is better then hers ?

I think crashing and freezing has more to do with the event and less to do with what version of the OS you are using. The game itself is 32 bit. The patch actually mentions addressing memory leak issues. I have a 580 gtx 64bit, and 8gigs of ram, and even I was freezing for a good 20 secs at the start of the event. After the patch it was fine.

Re-installing the OS is hardly the troubleshooting steps I would take. That being said, XP is 10+ years old? Its time to move on regardless so might as well I suppose.

Big difference between freezing (I had that happen myself during the event, i7 2600 and GTX 670, Win 7 64) and getting an out of memory error.

The last post in this thread is a month old, however, I have the same issue as the OP. Only in Protector's Enclave do I get the out of memory error, any other location, dungeon, or whatever, is fine with no problems. I also have better than the minimum requirement and I believe there is a memory leak issue in that town. I am also running XP and PWI states the game will run on a 32-bit OS, so either they are lying or lazy to fix the problem. I run Skyrim, Endless Space, GW2, as examples of recent high end games, and have no problem with them.

There is a flag you can set in Windows XP, that will allow the 32-bit OS to make 3GB of ram available for programs. You have to set this flag in Boot.ini i believe. I can't tell you exactly how to do it, as I'm on windows 7, but, just google it an follow the instructions very carefully, otherwise you can screw things up.

If you follow instructions though and you set the 3GB flag properly, you should be OK. Assuming you have 4GB of ram in your computer, if you have 2GB ram, it won't help you at all. If you have 3GB, it *may* help. Basically, windows 32-bit usually splits 4GB of ram so that 2GB is for apps, and 2GB is for the OS. 3GB flag allows OS to use 3GB for the application, which should probably be set by default for most people, but, it isn't, so fix it yourself.

Link to technical info about this...

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg487508.aspx

Info on how to actually do it.

    http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_paper/2009/04/enabling-3gb-switch-on-windows-vista.html

Note, I can not verify the above instructions on applying the flag are correct, so it is in your best interest to google some more instructions and check a few to make sure they are correct and/or say the same thing. Although, in looking them over, they seem excellent and will also give you an option to boot up normally, as you used to, OR, to boot up with the 3GB flag.

32bit OS can't deal with more than 4gb ram, you'll need the memory tweak as stated in this thread to get it to even "see" 3gb.

64bit will utilize all the available ram, even though the game itself may not use it. Meaning the 32bit applications run in the piece of memory up to 3gb, while the rest of the applications and OS can use the remainder.

With 64bit being widely supported by both hardware and software, and most pcs having standard at least 4gb, there's usually very little reason to stick to 32bit, imo.

I'm not so sure it's the OS. I'm using an NVidia Quadro FX 3600M and Windows 2000 SP4 (yes, you read it right -- I patch it myself so it has the API's it needs to run NWO). I do get crashes after several hours of gameplay, but I haven't seen an E_OUTOFMEMORY in a very long time. I suppose it's possible that the game client is intercepting unhandled exceptions by using SetUnhandledExceptionFilter(), but I don't know for certain. My instincts tell me that perhaps its due to memory thrashing, with the available heap to the DirectX driver becoming fragmented over time until it can no longer allocate a contiguous block large enough for something it needs.

Why would anyone choose to run 2000... Wow, do i have some bad memories of that OS, that is probably the worst OS MS ever created.
