Hello all,
Many years ago, I did module reviews for the Biow NWN community which were quite popular at the time.
I don't charge anything (request anything in exchange), try to be as honest and unbiased as possible (of course I have favorite types as we all do) and all reviews are meant and worded as constructive NOT meant to be destructive or rude. Hopefully authors can take constructive criticism.
I'm currently leveling several chars of various classes for this purpose and will keep 1 at each threshold: Ex: Lvl 10, 20, 30, 40 etc. My main is always some form of mage, in this instance obviously a Control Wizard as I find them the easiest for me to solo.
The layout I use (have used) for reviews are as follows (on a scale of 1 - 5 for all sections - all come with explanations and of course are opinions):
Overall Rating
A - Too Easy (anyone with a brain cell)
B - Very Easy (any player with minimal gaming experience
C - Average (for experienced gamers 1-2 years)
D - Hard (For hard core players)
E - Group content only
1 - Needs quite a bit of work
2 - Several broken items
3 - Not bad but needs some polish
4 - Good job - can use some clean up work
5 - Excellent - don't change a thing
The parts I normally focus on are as follows (I usually test solo)
Character class ( If specific)
Race ( If specific)
Difficulty level - remember I usually test solo
Mechanics
Encounters
Story line
Other as requested by Author
I won't be ready for another week or two however I am putting this out there to get an idea of the interest from the author community.
If you're interested in using me for your module reviews, feel free to post your interest and thank you for your time.
Please signify whether you want the full review posted publicly or privately. I will of course post general comments publicly.
Here is a sample review of nothing in particular...
Overall rating:
B+
Character class ( If specific):
CW
Race ( If specific):
Human
Difficulty level:
B - The overall playability was fun and able to be soloed.
Mechanics:
4 - nice use of traps, triggers and scenery
Encounters:
C - While the encounters weren't very difficult they did fit the module well
Story line:
2 - several spelling errors (too many to list) - run a spell checker on your dialogs
Requested by Author:
Please pay close attention to the crypt encounters - there is some tricky coding:
The crypt encounter was actually one of my favorite aspects of the module. However your over use of undead skeletons got to be a bit much, but I understand after all it's a crypt. There is an issue with one of your spawn points near the final boss - seems you have 2 floor triggers in close proximity and while I was able to survive you might want to re-think those triggers.
