Maintenance time slots

So, the maintenance time slots hit right on my prime gaming time, between work and dinner/family time.

They are also always at the same exact time, having caused me to lose several days of gaming already.

That's why I'd like to get an idea of how people are affected, is the problem just me or is a significant portion of others affected.

Polly poll time!

I think the maintenance is at a great time for me, always in the morning when I'm getting ready for the day. But I understand people's clocks that don't live in the United States are way ahead, interfering with their game-time.

    No they aren't:
Gotta say, it's nice for devs to set up manteinances at such clock times as these ones, but there are 2 negative points on this:

    1) Manteinances come right at the end of DD (dungeon delves) so it affects people running for it (DD is the most played and important event atm);
    2) Doing manteinances at these clock times badly affects all non-americans events and gear/seals, and no one can deny that. Americans will login at 10.30 AM with the chance to run 4 or 5 DD events / skirmish / pvp (etc), while others will get manteinance in a horrible mid-day time and they can achieve only 1 or 2 events. If you would say "heh but they can play at morning" then i reply by saying "oh really? and when do they study / go to work?", and if you would say "heh but they can play at night" i'd reply the same way.

No opinable point, manteinances timing benefit americans and affect all the others. Simple solution: do manteinance at devs lunch time (12.00 o'clock pacific / 20.00 o'clock GMT+1) and no one gets affected by it.

    Silly poll silly question.
Look no matter what time they do maintenance someone somewhere in the world is going to be peed off, they have to do it so just go and do something else for a couple of hours.

I voted "I don't care", not because I play 24/7, but because I have some flexibility when it comes to when I play. I got some work done during maintenance that I had planned to do later in the day, but I swapped that around.

I think their time slots are a relatively good compromise for the US and Europe, but are probably less ideal for Oceania.

Heh, it's biased in a way, I'm hoping the "spread evenly" option gets enough traction to maybe get someone to think about it.

basically, it's early morning in USA where the server are and the engineers start work at 0600 like today which was 14:00 in my time (England). Sure some people throw the crying card all the time but when IS the best time? because there are people from all over the world playing on the servers that it will effect even if they change the time.

3pm on a Monday (2pm in the UK), when the maintenance started, is not a bad time. This doesn't affect most people who have jobs and responsibilities, and it isn't prime time. It may affect younger people who play right after school, but someone will always be affected.

Probably too much to ask for or implement an option where players could set their daily rotations in the game based on where they live. so where it might be 7am for me when it starts my dungeon bonus its 10am for someone else.

I'm EU player and in my country 13.00 to 15.00 is a prime time for those with jobs or college students, so you're wrong :| You gotta consider not everyone with a job can play during the evening

Well, I don't know in which EU country most people come home form work at 1pm (13:00) and play video games, but in my EU country prime time is 7-11pm (19-23:00). :p But anyway, no time will satisfy everyone. Since the servers are in the US, it makes sense that US times are the standard (and I say this as a EU player). If we had EU servers, I would also prefer 6am in the morning (local time).

Maint is always when I get off from work and would have 2-3 spare hours to play when family is at their hobbies.

But I can understand it is reasonable time to do patch when Devs start their workday, so not that much complaining anyway. 1-2 hours earlier, and I'd be real happy though... :)

can't they just apply manteinances at 12.00 pacific / 20.00 EU? or you play while eating? >_>

I really don't know if the scheduled maintenance messes with all my gaming time, as it really is only on my day off.

Now the other downtimes? Friday evening? Not being able to play on a Sunday since I started? Yeah, invonvenient.

However, this poll is gonna seem kind of lopsided for a while, since most people on here would be playing the game if there wasn't maintenance, and if it wasn't my day off, I wouldn't even see this poll.

I'm not surprised to see that people are in favor of them being inconvenient, but I'd like to remind everyone that they are in no way obligated to set aside necessary maintenance just to please you. If they let it go, the game will fall into disrepair and then there'll be nothing left to play, so is it really that terrible?

I don't think that waking up at 5 AM to apply manteinance is something NATURAL for a person's sleeping needs. I bet if they do it at 12.00 instead of 6.00 they are happier.
