Can we please get rid of the Heavy Inferno Nightmare message?

This message is terribly annoying, and you can only get rid of it by turning off system announcements, which is very much throwing out the baby with the bathwater. It's only purpose is bragging rights, but there are so many of them out there, it's nothing to boast of. In fact, I'm much tempted if I ever do get one not to use it just so I can be different.

Tired of it too.
But hey, that would ruin the peer pressure effect PWE has intended. "Oh look another person got a cool mount! Look how easy it is!... where's my credit card, Ima get one too!"

And for all the messages, I may see someone actually ON one of those mounts, once a day.

o, how I wish we could, I'm sick of seeing it -- very distracting, totally unnecessary.

Any loot related Admin messages should include the player's total spent $.
Use the <removed exploit lead-in> to interact with the auction vendor.

Its these little things that really make PWE seem slimy. The overt and intentional tweeks put in the game to steer people to spending more cash....

Oh I'm sure the world will see it, but take comfort in knowing that due to all the spam previous to yours, no one will actually take notice or care.

At the minimum, we should have the option to turn it off within a channel.

Yep. It's advertising. (Same thing happens with rare ships in Star Trek).

One way to improve it a bit - hit Escape, select modify UI, and drag that message box out of the center of your screen. It's much less obtrusive when it's in the corner under your portrait.

At least in STO you could turn it off; I've yet to find the option in NWO.

If anyone figures out how to turn it off, please post!

It seems to show up the same color as emotes which can't be filtered either...wonder if it is a shard-wide emote message....

I seriously cant stand DUrrhHH " (insert random name here) has acquired a heavy inferno mount" every few seconds.

No one cares. Its just random spam in my books.

Its funny considering I have everything muted to silence all the trade spam. Yet, I still have to get another msg telling me about heavy Inferno mounts.

I don't care.. No one cares. Its just looks like (*3@#^!@*&^$*&HAMSTER^HAMSTER&^@*&$6 to me every 2 seconds..

Indeed, we need a separate option to turn off any of these adverts....

Why not grant those lucky individuals their one minute of fame in Protector's Enclave, fully provided with a stage, spotlights, pyrotechnics and one or two half-naked, dancing Orcs?

That would simply have to make people's envy burst like a volcano, causing every single soul still without a HAMSTER firehorse to rob their unfortunate piggy banks and throw their coin in PWE's laps. Hooray!

...please, let us just turn it off.

So... let me get this straight. Anyone can personally issue a 24 hour mute on anyone else, for any reason; But, the devs can spam trivial, unimportant server-wide messages which we can't even FILTER if we want to? In languages we can't even understand, no less?

I think that might just deserve a giant troll face.

Yep, that felt right.

Well the game is free so they are going to advertise the biggest price gouge they have in the game. I don't even pay attention to it anymore. I've played other games that do it too, so I'm used to ignoring spam. That's what it is, advertising spam, and it has to be flashed in our faces as often as possible so people who don't mind gambling can burn a hole in their credit card.

Agreed, that message is anoying as hell.
What the hell do we care if someone else opened a box and got that mount.
Good for them, I have a horse, I can ride on that too. your shoots flames "yay" whats the big deal?

Anoying, distracting, and clearly spam.
Whats next center screen pop ups of whats news in the zen marked every 15 minutes?

I agree and I got my mount from a lockbox. On that note it brings up something else. I don't know exactly how that message is used, what I mean is when I opened mine from a lockbox my wife never saw the message and one of my friends didn't either. Another friend I have did notice the message.

That they feel the need to shove that message in our face constantly is pretty much proof that buying keys is a poor financial decision and is only feeding the house like shoving quarters in a slot machine. Their spamming is having a negative effect on me and I will not be buying keys because for one I don't want to support such crass tactics and for another I want to save my money and AD for things that matter more. I bought the Guardian Pack because it provides a well-rounded bundle, including some spending AD and a mount and companion that all my characters can use through all their tenure, but those may well be the last dollars I spend on this game unless they change their excessively greedy ways.

for a FTP game, advertise is not surprise for me, so I can accept that. but, if you can change the way it shown, like marquee at top may be you can advertise others than Nightmare next time. for the big text on screen, I think it is better for Maintenance time warning only.

I just won one of those horses on my 3rd lockbox ever - and was so tempted to apologize in general chat for the aforementioned spam. (And keeping the horse, btw; I find it hilarious to use with my halfling thief.)

The bit that gets me is why messages are generated in the lucky ones client language, not as a 'token' so that it appears in the victims client language... (after all it is marketing and surely would be better if the target audience could read it! [& I guess this goes for WTB/WTS linked objects too]).

But the option to pipe pond scum etc. directly to the bin would be nice :D

You can stop from seeing it by turning off system messages in the tab of chat you have active. As far as I can tell there are two system messages: the mount, and server shut downs. Cryptic does a very good job of lead time on the launcher for when there will be maintainence, so your risks of missing something by turning it off are slim.

It's annoying but it is part of the devs' way of making money. It should really be off in Dungeons, though.

I thought it was a zone system message. Tell your party members to stop opening lock boxes and kill some adds.

They won't EVER get rid of this. All you need to do is log into STO and you get with the same messages only its about Tal Shiar Destroyers and Jem'Hadar Escorts.

There are other examples of this. For example I was in a group and the leader I assumed had their default language as French. So the little cut scenes that showed the encounter names came up in French. For example Forge of Idris or whatever is normally displayed in English was completely different.

having said that while they are annoying I've gotten pretty good at just not paying attention to them. Just one of the slight annoyances you have to put up with an a free to play game. Luckily for me the amount of small annoyances hasn't added up to be enough to make me move on.
