I was in a pug that wanted to do a boss fight where if you die after he dies he re spawns. I wasn't sure if it was banable so i said i have to go. I put a lot of time into this char so didn't want to be banned. any replies would be nice.

Exploiting is bannable. You did not exploit.

You discovered a bug, which you should report.

purposefully repeating a bug is the very definition of exploiting as far as a GM is concerned... what you said is just.. ugh..

just don't do it if you are scared

He said nothing wrong. The OP said that he left instead of going along with it. So, he didn't exploit the bug. (The other guys did)

In principle yes. But given all the exploits that have occurred and the fact that for most of them no one has been banned, lets face it, actually getting banned does seem pretty unlikely.....

I assume Cryptic is either too lazy or too scared to losing players they if they start banning, but long term this will affect how many people are prepared to play the game. After all why spend large amounts of time, effort and money on a game, when someone can just exploit their way to the same thing?

I wouldn't quite say this is true. As I understand it, several players on STO were banned for exploiting the foundry rewards.

abusing a bug for personal gain - reported or not - is exploiting the game.

Use the "report a bug" function ingame to submit it.As open beta, devs count on players reporting this stuff so they can fix it.

Yes, OP, killing the boss then forcing it to respawn is a bug, and using the bug to progress your character is an exploit. Leaving was the right choice; you should also report the bug.

As I don't play STO, I will take your word for it.

That having been said in NWO I haven't heard of many players (not Foundry Quest publishers) getting banned for most of the exploits that have been going on, and some players were even advertising in general chat.

They are probably lenient still, with it being a "beta" and all. Or they are too busy to worry about banning just yet. Anyways, not worth the risk if you have invested money into your account already or even a significant amount of time.

No smart cheater uses sxploits because you always get caught :)

Its easy to see who is doing it go to the AH same guy with 3-8 seal of the dragon items on the ah weps are like 180-200 seals so about 15 hours of of farming is needed for 1 item so. I can see the cheaters easy. Yet they post new items all the time everyday and nothing is being done so I think they need to do some thing. It messes with the market.(yes i know it means prices go down but if you beat the dungeon with out cheating you get said item and are like now i sell this for the item i need to find out its worthless now because people have farm that boss 30 times an hour.. ) PLz fix this soon thx

You did the right thing but probably should have also done a bug report on it.

As for the people who exploited things fully expect that once an exploit is fixed that the ban hammer will swing wide and hard resulting in a delightful and tasty round of QQ postings about how unfair it is that X's chararcter was banned for NO REASON.
