Hello so i am trying to figure out how to get the npcs to attack and to add bosses i have added encounters but i have custom npcs i want to add for battles.
There is a specific encounter in the game called "Guards" They are friendly. Simply reskin them to be whatever you want.
As for bosses, you have to find an enemy that fights similar to how you want and reskin it to be what you want. You can be a bit more creative with bosses by adding things like adds that walk in and join in on the fight as it progresses, but currently there is no real boss mechanic, you simply have to fake it.

after you pick them in the encounter. Go to layer 2 and select an individual unit. One of the options is "customize" and you can pick a pre-made skin... or if you want to... you could even start to dress them up and change the color of outfits. You can not chnge their gender or race (I DONT BELIEVE). So friendly NPCs will be human males mostly.

I think you can change their gender and race if you pre-make the costume, but when I think about it I don't think I've actually tested it.

You make your NPC's disappear on a trigger and spawn an encounter with the same number of mobs and then find them in the component tree and change their 'costumes' to match your NPC's. They will be saved so you just have to choose them.
So basically, Jill1 is an NPC from the NPC tree that you created. You talk to her via the dialog tree in the story and somewhere she says, "Rot in Hell" at the end of the dialog. (RP Meaning she will attack you) You make Jill1 (Your ACTUAL NPC) disappear on dialogue prompt reached: ROT IN HELL. You place 1 mob ENCOUNTER (Since Jill is one person. Like a single easy/Wight Encounter) and find her in the component tree (Yeah, name her Jill 2. Trust me, your brain will thank you) and have that encounter appear when dialogue prompt reached. "Rot in Hell"
For testing purposes, trust me on this, Place Jill1 and Jill2 next to each other first so you can test it and make sure Jill 1 disappears and Jill2 appears on "ROT IN HELL" (I can't get in game atm but if I recall, you may have to make them appear/disappear on Objective in progress / complete or w/e. One of them can't appear/disappear on dialog. (You would think I would know this by now... but it always catches me for a few seconds)
Once you get NPC Jill1 to disappear and Encounter Jill2 to appear you can go back and rename them both Jill and stack them on top of each other.
