How to Upgrade Companions?

I have a cleric companion at lvl 15 which says is (max level) yet there's a locked slot that says: "can be unlocked at lvl 25." How do I upgrade the companion so she can level up further? I'm aware that the blue and purple ones available for zen purchase will go higher in level.

I'm just wondering how to upgrade the default cleric you receive at lvl 16 via quest and if it's possible or not. Thank you all in advance for your responses :):p

I posted this exact same question a day or so ago...the same vendor that sells companions also sells books to upgrade a companion's "rarity" which is what determines their max level. So your free cleric is common and needs to be upgraded three times before she can max at level 30. Some companions will already start at higher rarites.

That catch? The books are greyed out at the vendor and not yet able to be purchased. So just check with them after every patch (I know I will be) until they are available.

Nice. I would have had this question if I had been smart enough to have even considered that you can upgrade companions. I thought my CW's healer companion was just going to be stuck at rank 15. She's only at 11 but I'm glad that we'll eventually have the option to fix that.

Hopefully it wont be crazy expensive like the cost of upgrading mounts. If so level 15 mine will stay!

The books cost a TON of AD.
If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you.

Also note that you can throw *any* level items on the slots the companions have available. So, if you have an alt throw on some level 50+ stuff on companions lol

Yup, throw on that top gear and then give your companion the (% of their stats to you) rune and its hilarious.

Actually for my pot-chugging GWF, gold=potions, so metal coinage has its uses ;)
