Question about "Gold" coins & there uses.

A few questions about gold coins:

1.) I'm level 26; every quest I complete gives me silver and copper. When will I start getting "gold" coins for quest rewards & loot off monsters?
2.) Extra Bank Slots: I noticed bank slots cost 600g. How many slots do I get for paying 600g?
3.) Nightmare lock boxes: I need to use a key on these that cost 125g. What is the purpose of these boxes? I got like 15 of them, but no gold to buy keys for them!

Thanks in advance!

you don't really get a gold as a quest reward, atleast not till you near level 60...
I would guess the bank slots would double but im not sure, and the boxes give you a rare mount, 40k diamonds, profession resources, or enchantments. people buy the keys for the mount but its very rare to get it. and they cost zen not gold.

    Hey.
    1. 100 copper = 1 silver. 100 silver = 1 gold.
    2. One afair.
    3. They contain some nice items but they are random, and bars to but powerfull stuff. To open them as you said you will need a key. You need to buy key win ZEN - currency used in ZEN Store. To buy ZEN you must pay real money, or exchange astral diamonds.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

    What does "One afair" mean?

The Nightmare Lock Boxes have to be the worst thing PWE has come up with. Before, in other PWE games, if you wanted to waste your money you would buy lottery boxes from the cash shop and simply right click to open them. Now, you are forced to pick up Locked lottery boxes that you can't destroy, can only AH them. Yet it costs AD to list them, or they end up taking space in your inventory. So now you have to buy the keys from the cash shop if you don't want to see them anymore.

Looks like the problem here is that he doesn't understand that the golden coins with a Z on them don't come after silver.

Somebody didn't play STO did they....LOL Just pointing out that it was way worse in Star Trek than it seems to be here. Of course it is still new so it remains to be seen how bad it gets. But this is the path most free to plays are starting to take. It isn't only PW that does it.

Are you talking about Gold as in character Currency that you spend at vendors or you talking about Zen that you use in the cash shop (default shortcut Y in game)? If you are talking about Zen then you either A) Purchase it online or at your local retail store that sells the cards or B) Refine your Astral Diamonds and then purchase Zen using AD. If you plan to use AD I will let you know it will take you awhile to get what you need. You can run to a store like Wal-Mart or 7-11 and pick you up $10 in PW cards and have enough for what you need for a little while.

I'm referring to the "Gold Coins" as the regular currency related to Silver & Copper coins.

    100 Copper = 1 Silver
    100 Silver = 1 Gold

Hope that clears it up & thanks for helping me learn!

yeah i didnt realize that. what a disgusting mechanic. your going to pick up the lockboxes if you like them or not half the time because you dont have to F to loot

and they are indestructable. and have to be posted for a cost and usually wont even sell

I dont really have any problem with the lockboxes, I wont be buying Zen to open em, I already have extra bank slots so not as much of a prob for me as some folks though.

I'll just stack em in bank and offload a ton of em cheap at some point when the AH economy settles down a bit, then trade the AD for zen. Not interested in flashy mounts, I'll use the zen for more usefull things.

    Cheers

Yeah but at least in STO (star trek online) and CO (Champions online) you can destroy the silly boxes or put them on auction without having to pay Astral Diamonds/Dilithium or X (whatever the resource in CO was) , als that is something I wasn't sure about, in NWN do the lockboxes stack infinitely or are they stacks of say 20-50? if it stacks infinitely I couldnt care less, it would just take one inventory slot.

I have not tried but can't you NPC the lottery boxes. I've see similar boxes in other games but this is the first that at least tells you an item or two that you will definitely get if you open it. Plus, the zen for the keys is not bad. If they sold the box in the CS, they'd probably charge 1000 - 1500 zen for it.

It seem like this game is all about AD and Zen. Gold/silver seem pretty useless. Ad seem to be the main currency for this game. i see pretty almost all items are AD cost. gold u can buy umm... potions? materials for crafting? best thing i've seen so far is u can use Gold to buy Companion.

Yup, totally worthless except in the rare occasions when you are running out of potions.

I used gold for potions and profession kits (nature, religion, dungeoneering, etc)... but when I really got more into crafting I realized THAT is a money-sink, too. A "worn" tool costs like 50 silver. It takes FOUR worn iron tools to make one steel tool (level 7 crafting, I think it was)... that's 200 silver or 2 gold right there (20,000 copper). For ONE tool.

I heard you can discard lockboxes by dragging them to outside the inventory. Haven't confirmed this. There might be a way so that you can set it up so that you don't pick up lockboxes automatically. In STO, you have to manually pickup the lockboxes which makes it easy to ignore them.

Not being familiar with PW and too many F2P games, I found the whole financial thing a mess and confusing to start. I just thought I locked down an understanding and then some Quest starts going on about tokens!? How many currencies does this game have??
