Unbinding companions?

Ok...so I want to unbind a companion I bought foolishly for the wrong type of character and send it to another. Well, when I try to mail it, it asks if I want to pay the thousand+ diamonds (ridiculous price but thats another story) but when I click the yes button...nothing happens. I tried to put the same companion into my bank with the same question and issue (although for a non-shared bank why I can't put bound items in I have no idea).

Anyone tried this and had it work?

    yea...I did have to withdraw some the first time I tried, but I have plenty on hand.
