Why is it..

Why is it so hard to try and find one guild to apply to? I mean there is so many to pick from. Not that I would be a good fit for all of them of course, actually I might not be a good fit for even one of them

So I thought, instead of writing one application for one guild at a time until I've been rejected by everyone. I would make a post seeing if there is a guild around that is stup..err I mean friendly enough to invite me in.

Lets start by saying I'm from EU, Sweden to be precise. Hence english isnt my native tounge which means I am a master at butchering it. Especially when speaking it! Which leads to that I'm not that fond of voice chat. I prefer to do my butchering by typing.

I can also mention I'm a 30+ male, even though my username is clearly a male name...or not. The @handles I tried were not available so I just rolled my face (not literally, I'm not that insane) on the keyboard. Tried to get it changed but apparantly thats not possible. So here I am, the brave Sir Aasddkl1123!

What else..my sense of humor is absolutely horrible. Infact its even worse then my english. So dont expect me to be entertaining or even remotely fun.

You might wonder what I'm looking for in a guild? Uh..havent thought much about that part, so why did I even ask myself that question is a mystery. Because now I have to answer it somehow.

WATCH OUT THERE IS AN OGRE BEHIND YOU!

Sorry my bad, it was just a cat. Where were we? Ah yes of course, I was about to tell you why I like apples. I only like the red ones, the green ones are to sour and not that tasty at all. Which of course didnt tell you why I like apples..so lets skip that part too and get straight to the point.

What kind of guild do you people think I'd fit in with? Actually skip the fit in part, lets just say what kind of guild would accept..hmm what kind of guild would invite me?

Well if it wouldn't be for part of disliking voicechat the Sardaukar would give it try. Reading your self description I must say: we have "worse" or "weirder" members. We are a crazy bunch of people with different nationalities. I could imagine you being an interesting addition to our group. We have no problem with someone not perfectly speaking english or butchering the language. But using Teamspeak is a requirement for communication in SAR.
If voice chat really is such a problem for you then I'm sorry, otherwise you're welcome to give it a try and join the Sardaukar

I run a faith based guild called Hardcore Christian Gamers. If youd like to join us, we are mostly english speaking though and mostly US people, although we accept all countries.

If your not into the faith thing, try

Tyr's Paladium(if they are still hiring)

    The Guild of Icewind Dale

    Black Hearts

    Neverwinter Knights
    I am usually Deaths Crowbar.

Anyone still searching for guilds you can check out HCG Hardcore Christian Gamers.

Like your guild name, was a long time ago since I heard anything related to the Dune Universe. If possible I prefer to not use voice chat unless its in my native tounge and try to stay away from guilds that have it as a requirement (unless its a Swedish guild). Thank you for your offer though, appreciate it.

I did read a bunch on your guilds website. It looks really interesting, one thing I was curious about though, is Lolth one of the possible dieties you could pick when creating your character? I think I heard somewhere that it was not. I dont know much of anything regarding Drow or their culture so your site is really a interesting read.

Another thing that I did not find was if its US or EU based? Or if its a mix of both. Because if its US based there might not be that many on during GMT+1.

Hmm I might not know much about drow, but I do know one thing and its that they are not helpful or welcoming. Sure you are not just trying to lure people in so you can sacrifice them to Lolth? Nevermind, no need to answer that. Because if thats the case you would not admit it anyway.

I never thought I'd see the word Hardcore and Christian together, are you actually christian fanatics that have formed a guild? Or is it more a roleplay faith kind of thing? One thing I'm curious about though is if its allowed to have a real life faith based guild. Usually games have restrictions on what you are allowed to name your guilds/characters. Like religion, explicit stuff or trademarks are usually not allowed. I'm guilty of not reading the CoC/ToS though so dunno if thats the case here.

Personally I'm not that much into religion. Not that I'm against people that are religious. I wish you good luck with your guild :)

Oh and thank you for listing the other guilds. I'll check them up when I get some time!

A good question to answer for a lot of the guilds on here would be whether you intend to RP or not. The way Neverwinter is set up is great for RPers and because of that there are a ton of RP guilds around.

And no, unfortunately Lolth is not a choice for Deity in Neverwinter. They assume we're all goodly hero-types. :D

We are currently almost entirely US based, but we are all mostly late-night players, and our plans are to be able to support EU players as we grow, and the game goes into Open Beta.

That is a good question indeed. I would not say that I'm a good roleplayer because I dont know much about DnD in general. I never played the Pen'n'paper version and I dont know that much about deities or the universe. With that said I am not against learning how to become a better roleplayer. Funny story was when I was playing a dark elf in EQ2 with a random party just as it was released. I did not roleplay or anything..at least I didnt think so. But I got tells from the group telling me I was doing a good job roleplaying a insane evil dark elf. Not sure if that is a compliment or if it just means that I'm not a nice guy.

Thats to bad, will be interesting to see if more deities are introduced in open beta even though I doubt it. I read that a lot is also looking for an unknown option.

Ah, I see. Well I guess being in a up and coming guild with maybe a few people playing at the same time as me is better then not being in any guild. Besides, its hard to start a euro branch of a guild from scratch since I guess not that many want to join if there are none in the first place.

My humble advice is think just a little about what kind of guild interests you.

The variety out there is wide and you;d be remiss if you did not think about what you want out of this game, and then matching the guild you choose to those wants.

Really, that's good advice to anyone not already in a guild. Think about what you want out of Neverwinter and then try to find a guild to match that.

There's a guild for just about any style of play or preference, so shop around and find the right fit for yourself.

Thats a good point, but at the same time a guild can write a post about what their ideal is all about. It can be endgame raiding, roleplaying, just to socialise or just try to get as many people as possible (which usually doesnt end up well). The point I'm trying to get to is that its a whole different thing reading a recruitment post and actually interacting with the people in the guild.

To be honest though, I dont really know what I want out of being in a guild at because I dont know what endgame is like. If its raiding I wouldnt mind joining a guild that do raids, if its just dungeons I can always join a random dungeon group and be in a guild that socialise or do small dungeon groups with the guild. I know what I dont want and that is a guild that is so big that you dont get to know individuals. You just join a random guild group for a specific objective and the only thing you have in common is the guild tag.

We actually now have a few EU gamers returning to our project now, they were involved in some of our older projects revolving around a NWN PW server we ran in which we created almost the entire city of Menzoberranzan through NWNs toolset. We also are starting back up our chat based game in which we plat PnP style D&D through chat channels. In that game especially, not everyone is drow. We are also planning on doing a ton of Foundry projects for Neverwinter.

Good luck, it seems like you have a decision to make :)

Hey there Aasddkl1123 and like yeah, I look at that name and wonder as well, as you posted about handles ingame and not being able to change them. That being said, I would like to offer you a quick look at the WWW.SINISTERSWARM.COM promotional video, that basically explains who we are. We are multi-national and our members are the reason we have been here for over 13 years. Send me a pm if you desire more information, I would be willing to pass you our vent info so we could chat a bit. As its been said before, no one guild is perfect for you, and the search can be tedious, but the Swarm wishes you the best in finding that place you can call home for years to come. Good luck in your search sir. Q

    Hi there...

I am a member of The Wild Hunt. I believe we might suit you well. Just check out their page or their thread The-Wild-Hunt-Late-Night-Heavy-Roleplay-Guild

It pretty much speaks for itself.

    Good luck!

Only thing I'm wondering about when it comes to your guild is that its roleplay heavy. I'm a real novice when it comes to actual roleplaying. I mean I've played NWN and NWN2 but I only played those in singleplayer. So not sure if that would be a problem.

I did check out your promotional video and it was very well done. Did not have time to read that much about your plans for Neverwinter though. I'll read your recruitment thread on the forums when I get home from work.

You are right, most of what is said in that thread suits me. With some exceptions, as I wrote a bit higher up in this post. I'm a real novice when it comes to roleplaying. So depending on what you are looking for when it comes to med/heavy roleplaying I might not be what you are looking for. The other point is that you are looking for neutral/good aligned.

I actually took the "D&D Online Alignment Test" to see what I would get. I know different characters can be different alignment and thats what roleplay is about but I thought it would be easier if I'm roleplaying to roleplay something that would be easy for me to roleplay. And apparantly I got Chaotic Neutral..which isnt really something I would call good..but then again apparantly its not evil. I dunno
    Chaotic Neutral

A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn’t strive to protect others’ freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. The chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). The common phrase for chaotic neutral is "true chaotic." Remember that the chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it. Chaotic neutral is the best alignment you can be because it represents true freedom both from society’s restrictions and from a do-gooder’s zeal.

While RP is a decent part of Menzoberranzan, there's still plenty of non RP going on. Lloth knows, a person needs a little OOC chatter too! ;)

From what I have seen, the amount of experience in roleplay is irrelevant. You just need to want to be a part of it. If you look at the forum, it is a very relaxed atmosphere. If the guild does interest you, I would recommend you visiting our forum and posting your concerns.

    Hope to hear from you!
