I cant for the life of me understand why they didnt start with 1st additon lore. I mean there is so much lore that could have been used. There would be so much more to work with. They wanted to throw an expansion out simple pick a module. It could go on and on with the past stuff that TSR and Wizards of the coast put out. And it would be stuff that more people are familer with. I persoanl feel it would be a bigger draw for a bigger crowd.
While I think starting in 1st edition lore would be cool, i think I prefer 4e. When working with the newer lore, I feel like I'm having more of an impact on the shaping of the forgotten realms than I would playing in 1st. Ya'know, seeing the effects of the decisions of characters of the most recently released books and lore and stuff.

I have a feeling that the expasions will be called "Edition".

I think it would be cool also but i agree with chaoticwhee as starting with 1e wouldn't be all that fun as we would all know what comes next. building onto what has already been started is a lot more fun as no one really knows "whats next" knowning would only spoil the fun. I think it would get dull after awhile knowing what each new content/expansion would bring, i think everyone likes surprises
