I'm pretty sure people are going to make bots that will automatically invoke their deity or w/e so they can stack up astral diamonds/other rewards from this. The auto disconnect timer will easily be avoided by having the macro move the character once every few minutes. I really hope you guys can make a work around for this, as I despise botting/exploiting of any nature. It ruins economies and makes my hard work feel less rewarding when I see someone not even playing the game, stacking up their bank. (IE: Summoners spamming their eidolons in FFXI to skill up summoning magic, WoW automatic gathering bots, just to name a few that really ticked me off. Summoning magic spam not as bad, but still... I hate bots in general.)
Since it is a free-to-play game, there is little recourse from a punitive standpoint. If one account gets banned, make another and continue gathering Astral Diamonds on that one.
Essentially, a punishment works as a deterrence to breaking a rule only if the punishment outweighs the benefits of taking the risk and not getting caught. I fail to see many ways to punish botters in a manner that would deter them; games that are not free have the trump card of banning accounts (which is barely effective, but at least something). The only effective measures would be to make it very difficult to effectively bot and/or make the act of botting of little value.
Aspects of the game that can be botted, like invoking deities, should have rewards that correlate to their simplicity and repeatability. It should be more effective to actually play the game and do difficult things than to stand around and hit Ctrl-I every hour.

Yes i agree, bots are annoying but then again.. its only as annoying as you let it be. What i mean is, botting is not going away anytime soon in any game, so you have 2 options.. 1) Be annoyed, thinking your hard work means nothing or 2) dont let it influence you so much and simply look at it as cheating.
Whenever i see a bot i usually just report it and keep going shaking my head with a grin. Remember there are 2 kinds of botters, those who do it for business and those who are to lazy to put in the work themselves and the last will loose everything they otherwise worked hard for because they couldnt be arsed to go all in. Bye bye account.
In another game i played they asked a simple math question...gave you about a minute to answer it...if you answered it wrong they would as a differing one...if you answered that wrong or maybe never answered...then you got disconnected after about 5 minutes.
But he bonus was if you answered correctly they gave you this little gamble device thing that would either give you some exp....or in game money or a potion...so it was a good thing to answer it.
It did get rid of bots.....got alot of people upset too...becasue they couldnt bot.
the simple questions where like what is 1+1? or what is 2-2?
dont think they went much higher then 5 for numbers...also you had to click into the box to type in it....control didnt automaticaly switch to the box....it was fairly clever..
Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.

The invoking skill has diminishing returns, and if I remember correctly, after 3 times it gave nothing but 5xp. I am not sure when it resets (assume every 12 or 24 hours). So I am not sure how a bot would exploit this.
Cheers!

Why do you suppose the invocation skill exists at all? I mean, its just free money! Why would they make free money??
And why are there so many different types of currencies: gold, astral diamonds and Zen, which can be convolutingly converted to currency in PW's other games like dilithium in Star Trek Online and, in fact, actual real-world money.
The answer is <REDACTED>.
Anyway, its very likely they want a way for 'gold farmers' to farm in their game without actually using up a bunch of server resources like they do in other games.
As for botting/exploiting, this game is going to be more resistant than you think. However the best source of defense is the community. Report suspicious activity. If there's one thing that is certain about exploiters they love to brag to their friends and other cheaters.
So yes, rooting out cheaters can be done. Banning them from the game is very hard to do in a f2p game like this. However deterring them can be very effective, as well as actively patching the game when exploits are reported. Maybe the best part is that this game doesn't really have god-mode type weaponry at this point. The loot is easy to acquire. As long as it stays this way, gold farmers will have a very rough road to travel (because demand will be weak).
DDO kicked the everliving <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> out of gold farmers. Exploiters, not so much, but that was because they failed as a whole to enforce their own EULA/COC rules and uphold punishments.

Seriously? Why do casinos give you free coins to gamble?? Because they want to get you into the habit of spending. Simple as that.
