... on ranged powers (Sniper's Perk):
- Oath Strike (at-will), does not get the buff,
- Shielding Strike (at-will), does not get the buff,
- Smite (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Templar's Wrath (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Bane (encoutner), gets the buff
- Relentles Avenger (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Burning Light (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Divine Judgement (daily), does not get the buff,
- Radiant Charge (daily), does not get the buff,

... on melee powers (Swordman's Perk):
- Oath Strike (at-will), gets the buff,
- Shielding Strike (at-will), gets the buff,
- Smite (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Templar's Wrath (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Bane (encoutner), does not get the buff,
- Relentles Avenger (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Burning Light (encounter), does not get the buff,
- Divine Judgement (daily), does not get the buff,
- Radiant Charge (daily), does not get the buff,

So, basically, even if powers like for example Smite, are basically Ranged and have in their description Ranged they DO NOT get buffed by gear which gives Ranged bonus damage.

Have fun!

I have suspected for a long time that this problem is pervasive to "range" bonuses on all skills. We have seen constant problems to range classification and application. Until Cryptic does a deep cleaning of skill attributes and tooltips, players should either research as you did, or gravitate toward more guaranteed bonuses when choosing between near-equal mathematical options.

This is why many go with the tanner's ring + any other ring. There are 3% daily rings that does work with pally, along with many options for both defensive rings and 10% damage to specific enemy types rings and the basilisk ring for 3% extra damage reduction on daily use. Pallys looking to run an offensive build can still use things like lionguard helm/protege helm, spiked gloves/lion guard gloves, stealer's armor top though not much in the way for boots aside from the fiend boots, 1230 item lv. Ebony shirt..

So there's still plenty of room to make an offensive tank, may not work in tomm or zariel, but certainly in all other content. To help with proc'ing daily more there's the lethander's and and the Elixir that gives AP gain, along with black ice overloads. So go for it and kick butt :p

(PS: I do realize the issue is that some stuff is neither stated as ranged or melee and you're looking for things to be classified properly. Just showing there are ways around it where it becomes a non-issue)
