Why was shield broken?

Leveling my first Thaumaturge and noticed the shield is now totally useless.
First the cool blue bubble is gone AND the push needs ANOTHER stupid cast animation now.
Most of the time the damn thing bugs out anyway.
When you start hitting that button in the heat of the battle too often, for some reason it keeps recasting.
Same on my Arcanist, was hoping it still had the old one, but no luck.
Why do they keep breaking things that didn´t need fixing?

...it’s a terrible encounter and doesn’t deserve a spot on your bars. It’s flat out detrimental to dealing decent damage, and Wizard AoE is bad as it is. The last thing it needs is a weak, long CD PBAoE that actually pushes things away.
I have found exactly one use for this power: to be lazier in Hell Pit since it’s a supplemental source of temp HP and damage efficiency isn’t as important.
