Just went from a rank 14 to 15 but my companion influence stayed 39.9. I removed all bondings entirely, and numbers stayed 39.9. My stats did move a bit, but I'm not Ranier so I don't know if I'm getting the full 5% increase.

    Companion influence is independent of bondings.

    Companion influence increases your companion's stats. Bondings transfer stats from your companion to you. Upgrading bondings will increase your stats, but it won't affect your companion influence.
