Zen Exchange new backlog and old backlog, DOUBLE BACKLOG

yes major issue here you should have not increased the Zen exchange to 750 per until more orders of the 500 per where filed now you have a double backlog occurring and all these people who have had their zen on the exchange for past 60+ days now are being expected to wait more time or withdraw they zen at the 500 price just to stick it into a new backlog NOW This is defiantly worse then mod 6, iv had my zen up there for a good while now tipping almost 50+ days and now you expect customers to deal with 2 backlogs, good luck you just ran off more customers, this is one huge fail.

The 500:1 backlog will evaporate pretty quickly. I was watching it earlier and it was literally dropping as I watched the ticker. It will likely be zeroed out by tomorrow or soon thereafter.

The problem was that no one selling Zen for AD was accepting the 500:1 ratio. Increasing the rate to 750:1 will now test the new threshold to see if the market will accept that valuation.

Addendum - whoops, my bad. The 500:1 backlog is not even shown in the ZAX anymore. The 750:1 rate is at 4.7 million backlog and rising.

Hate to say it but you got double screwed. First you now fell way back to a wait that isnt even on the list.

Second way you were screwed, now you have to put up 750k AD to get 1000 zen. So you lose 250k AD and you go back into a nice long wait queue.

    Great job Cryptic.

Wonder if they will apply this to console if so then no one would buy zen there until after the June launch... they may not need to do it there but would guess they would want to make it consistent. The problem is whatever they do to it will cause someone to feel like they are getting scrood over. Its one of those rip off the bandaid really fast while they arent expecting it.

    They already have...

On Xbox, the ADX went to 460 a short while, but was down to 440 when I logged off earlier.

But yeah, you can buy & sell for 750 now, so I assume PS4 is nearing/or is at cap soon...

Currently it looks like there's less than a hundred thousand zen in the PS4 exchange spread around the 680s, but the bulk of the visible orders are in the 660s, I think. Earlier, some wishful thinkers dumped a bunch of zen at 750, but I don't believe anyone was actually biting.

Last I saw, the vast majority of orders were still at the old cap of 500:1.

People so negative. This is an excellent opportunity for buyers who have been waiting in queue forever to jump ahead of the line. Sure zen cost 50% now. But not everyone is screwed. For every buyer who is paying 50% more now, there is a seller getting 50% more. This is the event zen hoarders have been waiting for. And I am sure it will encourage more people to be zen hoarders as they wait for the cap lift to 1000:1.

The thread has been forwarded to the dev team to see if there is further work they need to do. I can assure you that the devs did not intend to "screw anyone over" as was suggested above.

That backlog wasn't going to magically disappear in a day.

I'm really interested to how it shapes up over the next few months. Hopefully the higher exchange rate will attract more zen, but as others have been saying for a long while now, simply raising the cap isn't going to be enough. The devs still need to offer some great incentives in the Bazaar for people to spend their AD on.

I'm not convinced that raising the cap on console was necessary, but as long as the PS4 exchange doesn't stick to the ceiling, I'm perfectly content.

So far it looks like the end result will be, the zax will still be backlogged, it'll still end up taking forever for orders to clear, except now it'll cost 50% more. Items like wards that people sell as part of the aforementioned Zen->items->ah->ZAX chain go up in ah price. And anyone who had a 500:1 order waiting that was close to clearing, took it on the chin. Um...yay?

    Agree with adinosii on this.
Personally I do not spend real money in the game, but use Zen through the exchange system to buy VIP. When my VIP runs out in a month or so, which I like for the convenience of signposts, mail, vendor and bank, will have to look long and hard about continuing. Running without VIP after all this time would be a real annoyance.
Of course since I do not spend real money on the game it would be no loss.

WELL IN mod 16.. getting to 100k will not be easy. So raising it to 150 would be meaningless for many.

The old backlog was about 30 million. We have had backlogs half that size, or a little more disappear in a day or two, In less than 12 hours the new backlog was 10 million. now it is 12 million.

Except that the people that paid for zen are going to wait for forever to get their diamonds that they want to buy with zen. So yes it is affecting customers, they're greedy ones when it comes to exchanging diamonds cuz they only want top rate for em, as is their right. But they don't have be this bad with it.

Last I looked this morning the backlog was 10mil+

Those want to buy AD with Zen gets their AD instantly. There is no waiting. The exchange gives Zen seller the top rate (if it is available) automatically even if they post in a lower rate.

I didn't study economics at all, but my intuition tells me that this change is only good for people who buy zen to sell for ad, and then buy stuff on the auction house they can't get in the Zen Store.

Basically the logic follows like this.

    1) It's harder to get AD, so items farmed in game will go for less in the AH.
    2) Zen is worth more AD, so people have to spend less real life $ to get those items.

In other words, it decreases the value of AD for items in the Zen Store like wards, insignia packs, and companions.
    - It takes more AD to buy wards on the AH or through the ZAX, which basically devalued AD for those items by 50%.

While at the same time as I said before, decreases the real life $ value of Zen for items found in-game like loot drops and marks and enchanting stones.
    - It takes less Zen (and therefore less $) to buy AD inorder for players to purchase those items in-game, essentially devaluing Zen by 50% for those item.

In fact, I can't see any case where this actually increases the value of Zen. If people purchase Zen to buy items in the Zen store, the value of that Zen is the same. Maybe that's the point, decrease the value of Zen so that the game becomes cheaper for buyers, and therefore opens up the market to a wider audience of purchasers. I.E. instead of spending $100 to get what players want, they only need to spend about $66, in some cases.

As for people who use the Zax to buy and flip Zen Items, like wards, as long as the AD price of Zen remains stable, at whatever price, there is no change once the prices on the AH settle down, as far as percentage of profit goes. ATM, there are a lot of people who already had stacks of wards, and are selling them, and can afford to sell for slightly less than 750:1 and still profit.

For people who use the Zax to sustain the VIP, this was very disruptive, sets them back several weeks to a month, and increased their cost up to 50%, not taking into consideration the effects of AD being harder to earn for future ZAX postings and VIP purchases.

What are they going to do about it? I reckon, nothing. Paying customers get 50% more for their dollars. The backlog is smaller now, so FTP customers have a shorter wait, though they have to pay 50% more. The devs probably consider this a success.
