MOD 16 Solo Playing Question

viperwitch23viperwitch23 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 205 Arc User
Hello

I will try to make it very short.

I have 15 chars and 10 are guilded. I have all classes tho TR I am not really playing.
MOD 15 had effected my playing very much,so I was looking forward to MOD 16 to see if anything gets better.

My current primary play stile is the following:

I am doing 4 SH supports
Shandarar
Bread Ring
Ice Wind Dale
Well of Dragons

For this I accumulate dailies on all 10 chars then do them all in 1 big wush and then as I get supports I sell x3 per time for supports.

I try but not always possible to run influence on my chars. At last 1-2 chars a day. Solo x3 x5 each.
I run mainly T1 ones, but mix in T2 and several end-game chars solo T3. I prefer Giants Among the dead, lake crisis, etc Beholders not really they 1 shot a lot.

I run Master of the hunt for fun solo sometimes.
From Dungeons I have x2 DC, TEMPLOCK, MOF, OP, GF TAC
Mainly I run my 2 DCS and GF.
Sometimes I pug T1 dungeons on TANK/HEAL it is very quick.
Premades from channels for TONG/MSP/CR. Don't like FBI. Bit outdated

My gear on chars are:
On DCS Crown seal gear. rank 10 enchantments, Most boons are done.
Main chars are over 15k or just under it.
Secondary chars are bout 14k
This set of chars are 12-13k Those are just walking banks and influence/quest mules.
To store stuff and manufacture unending streams of shards and other goods
Workshop chars. having 400 morale each to craft some things

My primary fun is doing solo playing. Not because I don't like party. I am a person who was brought up be to self-sufficient. If people ask help in zone and Alliance I am usually first to offer.

Often I work up-to 14h shifts. My gaming is fit into my working. I can run game in office just as long as it doesn't affect my ability to deal with customers. So, solo playing is the only thing I can do. I can't expect party people to do it for me while I got customers and I can't expect party players to wait for me while i am with customers.

I have read many posts regarding MOD 16 features.

So, I have here a very straight forward questions to those who played preview.
Please none I cannot do preview myself due to something with my ISP.

THE QUESTION IS:

Based on the changes you - the players who been on preview have experienced - how much affected my play-stile would be?

I been reading on what others say and it doesn't look too good. Mostly people seem to say would need full party for everything?
My third set of chars can solo all old maps. SKT not unlocked - don't need it here. Would solo all lairs in DR, Sharandar and others. On last x2 RP I was doing PF on those. semi-afk tho was just fine.
I did CTA: PIT FIGHT on solo. hundreds of runs.

So, I have fully explained my gaming as it stands. It was always like this since I joined game end of mod 5.
Mod 6 was a tough nut to crack, but I have grown my chars through it even if I didm't really enjoyed old EE campaign

Well I leave it here and hopefully I get some feed back

Thank you in advance

Your play-style will very much be affected and you'd have to relearn a lot of stuff.

As for being able to solo, it's very much doable. People said what they said because the scaling hasn't been tuned properly just yet (needs a lot more feedback still). But the quests will quite certainly be soloable if you could be careful, and suitably alter your play-style.

I hope that solo playing will still be as effective as before☹️

    Not quite....but still perfectly doable.

Right now solo playing is painful, even impossible in some areas where scaling does not work properly - the Stronghold area is one example, and certain classes have issues that make them less effective than they should be.

Once those issues have been fixed, those who enjoy solo play should find it just as feasible as before....although probably a bit slower.
    Hoping for improvements...

I hope you are right on this one.

When you play a class that is decently tuned (not the case currently for all of them, but that should get better with the next patch or two), in an area that does not have scaling issues (some areas (like SH) are confirmed to be problematic, and will get fixed before release) you can do solo stuff without too much hassle.

Every class can for example do the new campaign from 70 to 80 solo without too much trouble, so yes...I am fairly certain that soloing will be feasible...although a bit harder than it is now.

Note, however, that by "soloing" I really mean playing the content that is meant to be played solo....not soloing 5-man dungeons...that's a totally separate subject.

The Devs stated, that they do not want to increase the difficulty of solo play.
Currently because of so called scaling issues the difficulty of solo (and team) play is dramatically increased in some older maps.
Due to the broken state of preview it is difficult to tell, how its going to be when Undermountain goes live.
IMO it does not even make sense to give feedback, because the mess does not even allow you to guess what is intended and what not.

For instance, Master of the Hunt is utterly broken. You get one-shotted (as a well-geared player) by everyone of the 10+ mini-bosses that must be killed before you even reach the real boss. You can beat them with extended kiting and letting your companion taking the aggro. But not fun and 10 times as long.

The same was true for dread ring in the first preview version, but they changed it in the second release, so that it is even soloable now. The lvl 70 Dread Ring is now much easier than the lvl 64 MoH. Very likely not intended, but who knows. It seems every instance and every mini dungeon on every map must be looked at. I doubt everything will be fixed when Undermountain goes live.

DreadRing currently on preview is probably a good indicator, what the devs intend. It takes roughly 3 times longer than today. Mostly because we deal far less damage (party buffs and most self-buffs gone, 50% buff from trans weapon enchant now reduced to 5%, companions provide far less stats, etc. etc.,).

    @viperwitch23

will take more time but i belive you will be fine, see:

I cant say anything about Stronghold map yet since theres a lot of tunning to be done on scaling,
but most of my toon have 3 stats rank 8 enchants and my standart test on preview was Dread Ring Skirmish solo

I did it solo on all 5 toon in both paragons (pally was a bit long) but i can still solo that stuff
my armor is a mix of Chult Hunt and Barovia Hunts gear only my GWF/Barbarin has R13 enchants
4 of my toos run with Primal weapons (MY still run Mirage set)...

I do belive toon with r10 enchants and less than 3 campaing to grind will solo this stuff quite well after lerning to play a class, but will take more time for sure...
btw be ready to try out stuff is a new game for most of them belive-me...

i Play GWF, GF, Pally, CW and HR

PS.: I did full undermountan map corse and some Master Expeditions, all solo without artifacts (there are Bugged atm) hitted level 80 HR as archer till LV 80 and only had some trouble with some vampires...

My pet is Paranoid delusion, My enchants are "Rank 8" 3 stats and 2 Azure Rank 9, Perfect Vorpal, lesser soulforged, and Bondings Rank 8 (pets had Rank 6 or 7 runes) as you see nothing expensive and i can still solo the full campaing and DR skirmish as archer...

keep in mind that really early development a lot can change before it goes live....

I'm mainly a soloist and it's absolutely miserable at the moment, I'm holding off completely quitting the game till they fix the level scaling, and then will have another look. It's slower not only because of the scaling, the removal of recovery slows down your encounter powers, a lot of the "build up stacks and then go nuts" boons have gone and also a lot of AOE has been removed from some classes.

Your question cannot be answered because mod 16 is still in preview with known bugs, as mentioned, regarding scaling, artifact and companion attack powers, etc. If the bug remains into live, it is going to be a big cluster. But there is a lot of feedback being given to the devs not just about the mod itself, but current bugs and issues.
