You need to sell enough gear and supplies to get 500,000 credits. Astral diamonds can be used to quicken the process.

I don't see the astral diamonds one. only her trade stuff.

It's the yellow colored text. Something about adding credit to the owners account. On my screen it's the second of 3 options.
  • auron#6793 auron Member Posts: 386 Arc User
i only see two options may i see a screenshot?

You have to do the quest "A Box for Knox" to get to that point where you can actually do the upgrade. Once you sell something to the elf woman for commission, then you have to go back to your workshop. Her representative will be there with a quest completion question mark. Talk to him, then I believe the retainer sends you out to learn more about what happened with Karmela. That quest takes you to the Material Supplier, then to Tress at the Manycoins Bank, then over to the Sage's Shop to talk with Tress again (when she's off work), then your retainer shows up in the Sage's Shop and you talk to them. Then you return to your workshop and talk to your retainer again. Then you hire 10 artisans and talk to your retainer. At some point, Montworth shows up with the quest "A Box for Knox" and you have to craft one of the things on the list. Once you craft it, talk to your retainer, then go talk to Knox, then back to your workshop to talk to Montworth. At that point, if you don't have 500k credit with SSTC, you can use AD to make up the difference. You can also use Material Exchange Credit directly for this. Once you have 500k credit, back to your workshop and talk to Montworth again. Then upgrade your workshop.

It's a progressive quest. You need to level your professions. You won't be able to fulfill the commission until you reach level 60 in any profession.

Okay, so admittedly I can't recall exactly how this goes but you either have to talk to your retainer again or to the Landlord. In the case of the Landlord he'd be standing right next to your retainer so you can't miss him. But I think the next quest is a hiring quest and you should just go talk to your retainer to get it.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

You're not missing anything. The people that can fast track already had professions maxed out or picked a profession that was 25 in the old system. You said your tailoring is level 32, you're next quest is at level 40 in any profession called "Lessons Learned" and it ends with hiring artisans as @ilithyn mentioned.
  • auron#6793 auron Member Posts: 386 Arc User
do i need to level anything else up? like the tailoring is currentlty lvl 33 (btw thak you guys for being patient with me, this new system has my head all mixed up)

Once you get a profession to 50 you get a quest called "A Box for Knox". The reward for this quest is a Workshop Sending Stone. It allows you to access your crafting tasks and collect the Delivery Box from anywhere outside the Workshop. That's a very important piece. Whether you decide to upgrade the Workshop after that depends on how much you want to do with professions.

I got 7 alts from workshop level 2 to 3...took about 10 minutes for each. The thing is, every one of them was already rank 25 in several professions in the old system, and had all 9 slots unlocked, so I started out with 9 additional artisans, including 3 blue and 3 purple. They were also holding a pile of old profession materials - I think I got between 800.000 and 1.2M in material credits for each of them. This allowed me to rank the workshop really quickly....just use the exchange to buy something like glue, honey or beeswax and turn it in for 500.000 credit. Unfortunately there is no easy shortcut for level 3->4, but well, that's just fair.

Anyone starting professions from scratch will find it much harder, but then again - people who already had professions maxed out had spent a lot of work in them in the past. Again, that's fair.

One thing to note...if you just want to do professions for fun, that's fine...but if you want to profit, you had better have a Mythic Forgehammer.
    Hoping for improvements...

seems to me that the new system is just a big time/AD wasting process ...cheaper to just buy what u need from AH and just keep farming AD. The simple fact that u can't empty your box unless ur in the workshop is a complete and utter waste of my time. Why not go back to the old susytem and scrap the new one. The old way worked fine, the new workshop is just pathetic.

People asked for the profession system to be relevant. People asked for the system to be overhauled so that all the professions were still useful. From the workshops I've got set up already, the devs did a decent job. The biggest headache is going through the tutorial multiple times to get the shop up and running.

farming ad isn't that difficult once you get a 9K+ IL since the intermediate random public que gives 12,000 for the first clearance then 2,000 after that.

The new system is much better in my opinion. I hardly used the old one for much, but am using the new one a lot. My armorsmith is making great things for me that I never would have got with the old way of crafting. It'll be even better when I hit level 50 and complete A Box for Knox.
