A real adventurer stops for nothing the adventure is in the quests and true "fortune". Since when is digging tin cans out of a dumpster considered adventure?

It also doesn't pick up potions that do drop. C'est la vie

I thought they removed potions from dropping from kills?
I don't know if it is oversight or just the way it is, but my newly rolled character is still picking up "requires level 30 Potions" and no, they do not auto-pickup.

As far as the new auto-pick up feature goes, obviously some people like, it some don't...

For the most part the people who claim they don't like it is because it takes up slots in their inventory, which probably takes a matter of seconds to remedy just about any way they choose to do it.

But none the less I agree and have repeatedly said, there should be some kind of option for those who do not want dropped gear to randomly appear in their inventory, or the gear selection option should work in solo maps as well as when a player is in a party.

Since doing away with the auto-pickup function would effect every player - even those who say they like the function and the solo gear selection or 'no random gear" option will only effect the players who say they don't want those auto-pickup to put stuff in their inventory, I'm of the opinion that the latter two would be a much more player friendly option.

That way the players who say they like the auto-pickup function can keep it and those players who say they don't like it won't have gear filling up their inventory.

    Right?

It's not that the auto-pickup is "stupid", it is some players like it and some don't.

They could always unslot their bags.

I'm a bit of a collector myself... OK, I'm a complete hoarder and I understand how some players can say they have limited inventory bag space, but at some point players need to consider whether all the stuff they have is worth keeping or whether they would rather pick up new items. Whether it is time to buy more bank slots or larger bags...

The people claiming auto-pickup is inconvenient for them seem to be exaggerating in my opinion.

Otherwise they would just let their inventory bags fill up and when it can't hold any more, things will stop being placed in their bags and they can dispose of the "junk" at their leisure after the run.

I mean I'm pretty sure those complaining don't object to "good stuff" dropping into their bags, they just seem to object to items they don't want filling up their bags, which is understandable I suppose no one wants stuff they consider "junk" cluttering up their inventory but different players have different definitions of what constitutes "junk" and that's where the problem seems to originate.

Just trying to keep it real here ~

I go through my bags and consider if what is in there is really worth holding on to. The Cloaked Ascendancy stuff I've been tossing if I need the room. I don't need the maps, the portal stones, and the reclaimed stuff. Not all my characters have that campaign at 100%, but what I'm lacking tends to be one or two of the bottom boxes. Not really a priority to go back just to fill those in.

isn't a good way to solve this problem for them to just add an option so each user can turn auto loot on or off? then people who want stuff can pick it up and people who don't can turn it off.

Having option is usually a good thing.

    ...
    i -> gear -> id all -> gear -> convert RP -> choose convertible equipment -> refine -> finish
    ...

This should be done with just one button Convert.
Since we still have an evil button Sort (now it's less evil than it was before, but it's still a redundant button) it would be so nice to have this:

would be cool if we have optional 'looting/gathering'.

menu list for gathering automatic turn into cash conversion, here example of "check off"
    [ ] ID scrolls
    [ ] treasure value under 75 coppers
    [ ] treasure value under 3 silvers
    [ ] treasure value under 50 silvers
treasure value are the non-gear loots, then we dont worry about sorting or converting later.

about having convert bag, we really need to watch loots to avoid losing specific item we want to save. that is cool idea, but i dont have room or an empty bag for cash/RP converting, and the bank are full, some are bounded dyes, retired gears from pre-patch mod 6 as collection waiting for "armor stands" if we get housing someday, and several enchant gems need coalenscene wards for upgradings, and old shields and weapons for wall decoration.

i have friends to try Neverwinter and they said "what? no housing in this game?" they pass up and play other games that included homes.

I like the auto pick up, but I do support the call for an "off switch" for those who just do not want it. If they added an option to turn it off for folks it would allow everyone to be happy.

Auto pick up is fine (an option to switch it off would be nice though).

    But the problem is this:
    1) you walk over a green/blue loot
    2) so you are the one who auto picks it up
    3) but you don't receive that item most of the time since it's rolled and the ones who zerg to the end (or are afk, or half-afk) still gets free ref points

This is how it should be done:
    1) if you kill a mob then the system makes a roll for what that mob drops: green/blue/treasure/trash/nothing
    2) in case of green/blue item the system makes an additional roll and if you fail you don't see that item at all, only the one who has won sees it and up to him/her to decide whether to loot it or just leave it on the ground
    3) it means that when you see green/blue shiny it's yours if you take extra seconds to walk over it and you never feel being a slave by picking up loot for others (which means picking up shiny loot can be fun part of this game, unlike what we have now)

How about making auto-pickup a switch OFF/ON so the player can decide if its usefull they are getting too much like Microsoft and deciding whats best for the player.

How about making auto-pickup switch default "off" and has to be turned on whenever a person enters a new instance, zone or region?

Those who don't like auto-pickup never have to deal with it, those who do can still easily turn it on. I know it is a little more effort to those who like auto-pickup, but it's been my experience those who say like things usually complain a little less than those who say they don't. :p

As far as I know, people has been asking for auto pick up since I started to play this game and it was mod 3. That has been asked for years. As far as I know, nobody actually objected that when those people complained about missing auto pickup.

Yes, they could have listened to those people and just added a switch to turn on the feature they asked for years. Then, this thread would not exist.

Funny been here since open beta extremely active with over 477 days 13 hours adventured and never heard anyone want auto loot except for RP stones and enchantments. Green gear never used to give any RP until just a few mods ago. And gold had no real use so there was no reason anyone wanted that stuff. Funny how the minds thinks and wants to hear what they want. What i do recall new players asking a lot is the need to identify green gear and the reply was always to toss the junk out or just sell to a vendor.

Then most newer players would be missing out on loot, or they get pissed off thinking other people are robbing them.

I see more people picking up loot than leaving loot. So the switch should be "on" by default. People who are too special for loot can figure out how to turn it off themselves to give their loot to the other players.

Hmm what do you mean by to special? Is it my fault i have been playing the game longer than most players? Because of that i have items from start of game some sentimental. Also keep stuff to hand out as gifts to new players quite often. Then i keep all stacks of unbound RP and many other items to sell when price is right. Oh because i know the game pretty well along with the tricks to make AD gold and RP guess that does make me special.

Only thing is the way you word it i believe you are trying to insult me and others alike.

Nope. This means that people who don't get the kills, like the tanks and the healers and the buffers, never get loot.

It's much better and easier to just have group loot, that SOMEONE needs to touch, that rolls randomly. Better still: All loot auto-loots and auto-rolls, according to loot settings.

I find it kind of curious you say you've "been playing longer than most players", "since beta", yet according to your profile you joined September 23rd. You have a "#", followed by a string of numbers after your alias and only have 28 post to your credit as of present.

It might just be me, but what your saying doesn't seem to jive with the available visible indicators, but like I said that just might be me.

However that aside, according to my posted information I joined ARC April 2015 (that's over 1,000 days)
and that was after a considerable time playing on STEAM.

After joining the ARC and the forums, I recall several posts of people saying they would like to see an alternative method to picking up loot without having to "press F" every time. Along with comments about how on "other games" they didn't have to do that and some griping about "limited inventory space" - go figure.

I don't doubt you when you say you never heard of anyone wanting auto-loot, not everyone hears about everything posted on the forum.

Even though green gear wasn't something that could be converted to refinement points till fairly recently, as a new and beginning player several years ago, along with a couple of friends who also started around the same time, we always picked up green gear - because the green gear we picked sometimes turned out to be of a higher level, with better stats than the green gear we were wearing. Back then that was usually enough to survive and progress since the level cap was only 60 and by then the fortunate players were able to acquire some very functional level 60 "epic" (purple) gear.

About the only real refinement I recall from back then was piling one enchantment or runestone on top of another and hoping for the best.

Yup it is just you P:The players that post on forums is such a small number of the real player base. To be honest it has been a spirit breaker to the game. So much gets moderated beyond need and very little is ever taken into consideration by the devs. That or it gets poorly implemented in a way like what we see with the auto loot. I do not blame the devs though they are doing there job under staffed with tight deadlines M=End result is many of the old players just give up or reach a breaking point and then no more posting.

Oh and thought i should mention one really good way to get gold has also been taken away from us. Just funny the one item i did use to pick up now gone with the auto loot. But potions the newest potion sold for over 20 gold perstack. And then the potion of grand healing would fetch 12 gold per stack. The grand potion used to drop from the enchanted coffer in leadership and i used to buy them dirt cheap at auction house when 2x RP was up. Have seen stack at less than 400 AD perstack and is why gold is no issue at all for me.

This shouldn't even be a thing...

There should be a toggle to allow players the option to decide for themselves and choose what they want to pick up vs picking up everything.
    How hard is that?

The fact that someone thought it would be fine to impose such a change on everyone without the option to opt out, and there'd be no dissenting voices shows a serious disconnect with this game's player base.

I mean really... was this argument not the first thing that the dev who green lit this expected to see on its implementation?
    Come on guys...
