Are portals broken?

I cant get them to appear in Play Mode, and when they randomly do they are 40+ ft above ground even if the box is touching the ground Y axis wise. Also any clue on how i repair the game as I've had a crash or two and it asked me verify files but i said no and now i cant access the repair function. I've installed it via steam but steam doesn't have the verify function since it thinks the game is 208mb

    they aren't broken but are a huge hassle. The portal doesn't always appear where you tell it to. The centerpoint is off. You need to move the portal detail around and go in and out of the game to see where the portal really is. Then adjust it a bit more. Back and forth until it lines up with the door.
