Problem easily solved IMO, the Simiral reward lanterns should be a different color than the Sky lanterns that do not award drops...

As it is now with both the Simiral lnterns and the Sky lanterns being the same color it's almost impossible to tell who's legit and who's not.

The gift things is the epitomy of what is wrong with the holidays :) You find some people who give away without care, but the majority of people want to make sure they don't get scammed. I get that.

I think a better way to do this would be to just be able to target different people with the gift. That person gets a reward box in their inventory, and you get a "count". For every "count", you get a better gift. If you never give, you never get a better gift. Opening the gifts would do nothing for that count - if you want better gifts, you have to GIVE more. Put each person you gift to on an individual cooldown to promote others to gift (you can only give to person A say, 10 times, then they go on cooldown for a bit and you stop getting rewarded with points.

Sure, you'd still have groups and such, but I think this would work better than the "LF3M, 50 gifts, must link gift, social security card, first born child, grandmothers will, etc"

Just a thought...I like getting the gifts of course, but I dont like the idea of weeding through the spam and grinches.

Posted this in response to a scammer post in January, 2017. Guess devs ignored or dismissed. Hope they come up with something better for next year. I do not mind giving stuff away I just don't want to get cheated. Getting cheated/scammed ruins this event for me every year. Just thought up number 3.

    1. Create an NPC that players target and use a gift. You get drops into your bags that equal what you would get in a party of 5 players.

    or

    2. Target any player and use a gift, no party required. They get a gift and you get drops as above. I prefer this one because I could reward someone for answering questions in chat, just because I like their name or whatever criteria I set for giving.

    or

    3. Bags drop randomly from participating in the winter festival events...fishing, fighting and sledding.

A change in the whole Winter Festival gifting department in spirit of "give a little, take a little" would be great.

I like how the event was made. Yes you can't do generously giving thing like this without giving up some safety and yes, garbage peoples exist. And I want to remember everyone that it's still more conveinent that buying 400 gems 200 leather belt for GM to make crates :dizzy:

The safer way is go with guild or friends, but I had very few issue and after the first turns we tend to do in the faster way even with pug.

Unrelated note that my charname starts with Z. :P

Yep... i just wish there would be GMs in game dressed up as Krampus, that would take care of all those little scammers around this event by turning their leeched loot into coals.

    Harr, harr, harr... >:)

or rename them scammer and not let them change it

Well, that would be an option too... and it would help me keep my ignore list a bit smaller.

There used to be some sort of 'slow down' bug with mounts, the last year or so, maybe it's never been fixed? I've taken to running it on foot, might miss a couple of the small gates, but seems to have much better speed.

Yeah, the mount slow down bug is still there. It seems like you can't gain any extra speed from arrows, and sometimes you'll randomly stop or slow way down and have to regain speed. Sometimes when that happens I've noticed your top speed becomes slower than even without any arrows. I usually notice that happen just before the 2nd gate.

    Running is generally better.
