Vow of Emnity

Can anyone tell me about this skill? The tooltip say it increases the paladin's dmg by 20% and additional ranks increase it 10%. So at max rank, is it 50% increased dmg? Or 10% of 20%... at max rank it'll be 29.28%. 50%doesnt sound right
