Account-wide Professions Repository

Could we please have an account-wide Professions repository? Simply add a tab to our bank that allows us to share Professions people and assets across our account.

This would be a massive QoL improvement.

Thank you.

In retrospect, a Saturday morning was probably not the ideal time to post this. It'll be well-buried by Monday... lol

It's a bit of a pain, but you can mail profession resources from one character to another. Not ideal (I just started Alchemy on a new toon and am pooling alchemy resources from other toons... I feel the pain). But, at least it's possible.

I agree an account-wide repository (replacing the current character-specific one) would be ideal. Very few crafting resources are bind-to-character and I don't think it would be game-breaking to make those bind-to-account.

8 characters and building up prof assets and resources for all of them is PitA.

Try mailing profession resources around between 16 characters... o.0

I agree, this would be a really nice QoL improvement.
    Hoping for improvements...

A very good idea, now try doing the email shuffle without a keyboard and mouse ;)

A welcome suggestion, especially as more and more progression is gated behind professional resources. Being able to consolidate drops onto a single toon is more important than ever.

And regarding the mail suggestion: it's a tiny bit risky because once in a blue moon the snail mail fails and your items vanish into the Far Realm. For many that's an acceptable risk, but when we're talking expensive unbound ingredients that can fetch 100's of thousands of AD on the AH, the game of snail mail roulette starts to feel even less attractive.

If making a profession shared bank is a big deal (looks that way since it was asked since big bang happened), I don't mind the smaller deal as increasing number of slots for profession, as a temp ease of the problem.

I agree. I try to always look at this from all sides (F2P/Subscribers/ZEN Purchasers/Developer) yet think those asking for this may just make the developer focus instead on making more BtA where today they aren't. So I curious why are we even discussing this except trying to turn a very small molehill into a mountain?

I wish FOCUS was on higher value things like expanding/updating professional tasks:
    • Make Rare Armor 20-59 from professions look a bit nicer, with unique names & remove the +1, +2, +3 +4 +5.
    • Make Rare Gemmed Armor 60-122 sets in different GS ranges unique but complete sets--more transmute options.
    • Allow Platesmith/Leatherworker/Tailor... update loincloth/plate or texture on gemmed armor for more customization.
    • Fix issues: Armor 60-122 Paladin Shoulder/waist plates hugely oversized (not seen in front view but ugly from side).
    • Extend Jewelcrafting 135 EPIC Neck, Ring, Belt to offer offhand for Weaponsmith/Artificing to Talisman, Icon, Swordknot.
    • Or FOCUS skill nodes far more on rewarding professional resources more and 'slightly' higher quantities sometimes.
Not only for masterwork but also for professions themselves...

Masterwork was introduced a few MODS ago and I know it's coming again in 11b, yet most fail to pursue it often because of higher requirements to even run projects. Still everybody I think would be far more served if we had a few junior to intermediate rewards refreshed even a few more senior projects. A while back we got personalized gear, nicer 143/145 shirt & pants, then had Elemental Artifact weapons added. I'm not saying they've being ignored but it be nice if each profession had some updates to older projects and a few new ones.

I wish the FOCUS was more around that. <3

It seems that some missed the point of my QoL suggestion...

As an example, I focus on Alchemy on 3 characters. Leadership and Weaponsmithing on one. Leadership and Leathercrafting on another. Leadership and Tailoring on another. Mailsmithing and something on another. Etc.

It would be SUPER convenient to have just one spot that I could put all the Elemental Sires, and the Adamant Scales and Rings, and the Mithril Plates, instead of buying (or finding) components, then mailing them around to others.

This could/would replace the professions inventory on each character.. well, keep that inventory tab there so profession drops don't soak up bag space.

It would also be a ton easier to manage all the resources. I have a zillion professions personnel that I neither want, nor need, and am slowly getting rid of them.. mailing them to guild members, selling them on the AH. With everything so spread out, I have spent literally hours doing this.

Regardless.. bigger profession bags and prettier armor and mastercrafting are honestly the least of my concerns.

I don't think anyone has missed your point. In the post above I was responding to another THEME raised by others in this thread. Also I think it's unfortunately you haven't explored Jewelcrafting because they can produce some 135 EPIC Neck, Ring, and Belts with one enchantment slot sure, but the personalized stuff which is BtC on pickup has two enchantments, and they can even be worn by your companions.

I also only really FOCUS on professions useful to each of my classes as an example:

    Paladin
    • Legendary Platesmith 25
    • Legendary Weaponsmith 25
    • Legendary Jewelcrafter 25
    • Captain Leadership and advancing
    • Might expand Mailsmith as it's similar profession plus alternate reinforcements.
    Control Wizard
    • Legendary Tailor 25
    • Legendary Artificing 25
    • Legendary Jewelcrafter 25
    • High General Leadership 25
    • Alchemy also advancing
Now to your point: You don't seem to concerned about assets or moving professionals and tools around, as you have more than enough from buying or opening professional packs, and you're selling most or in rare casees even helping friends. Your issue seems FOCUSED around a point I could see changing in time which is a common professional resource pool not professional assets.

I think it be great if all characters on an account could easily use resources that drop from enemy, skill nodes, open in chests, or are included in professional packs. A Tailor for example isn't going to require resources only used for a Platesmith or Mailsmith and while they may not build up in high quantities fast unless opening professional resource packs it's something I could easily support. Many would probably welcome resources as a combined common pool visible to each character and moving BtC items into a new category; however, professional assets are likely to remain unique to each character for the foreseeable future.

If or when they do combine 'resources' they would need to expand the slots available regardless of what your thoughts may or may not be in that regard. I'm a little disappointed you have no interest in other enhancements/fixes to professions that most would certainly welcome. Masterwork I understand your lack of interest because many never really explored it much given the higher requirements and is currently almost dead. One can only hope the changes coming with 11b might perhaps make it a little more appealing for others to give it a try... and hopefully some other enhancements coming in 11b to regular professions or soon after will be well received as well. :)
