Archery

I think we will never have a real archer in the game, to the point of being better than the other two trees...
I like archers, though, the game is weak, because the "DPS" an archer is much lower than Trapper.
Or does anyone know any way to cause high damage playing Archer?

since mod10 i went ahead and remade my HR with half-orc
and went dex/str and focus on Power, armor penetration and deflection(optional).
I figure with the feats/boons plus gear and artifacts will help with
giving me enough on critical chance to be sufficient with archery
feats. so far with it i have no complaints. But speaking from pve
    perspective. Haven't tried pvp yet.

But from a pve perspective i mainly use AoE abilities

    -Stormwarden/Archery Path
    At-wills: Electric shot/Aimed Shot
Encounters: Cordon of Arrows, Split the sky, Rain of Arrows
Features: Aspect of the Pack, Aspect of the Lone Wolf(optional: Twin Blade storm)
    Dailies: Disruption shot, Forest Ghost

Disruption shot doesn't work with majority of monsters
so don't rely on it to much. Use Forest ghost when needed.

i kill things pretty fast. but if you looking for pvp advice
i will let someone else answer that. Probably be criticized
for this post like everything i post. Hope this was helpful.

I finally got my first Ring of Rising Precision +4 last night (horror pug day in PoM) and I've been trying different set-ups since Mod 10 dropped, both gear-wise and Powers. I have beaten some SWs and GWFs around the same IL as me (3k) but I've seen 2 CWs in my guild absolutely wreck me in damage on 2 eToS runs this week. I upgraded my Dusk boots and helm to Dragonflight and and switched out my Crit-laden Elven Assault chest and gloves for Dusk gear with Power. Overall I gained roughly 2k Power but lost 2k Crit and after doing a couple of tests I was only doing about 1 million more damage in the upgraded gear as SW Archer. I will likely keep my old gear set-up. I've also been using Electric Shot and the damage looks good - not as much as Split Shot mind you (haven't tested though) but a very nice improvement and one I will be taking advantage of. Archer imo is still in a better place than Combat (pve), I'm just not sure how it fares against Trappers as I haven't done many dungeons of late.

i am not 3k iLvl, but at 2.5k iLvl, with normal bondings or augment, combat is at the same level with archery (and on solo targets too), the only problem for combat is that it has to dodge much more and change position a lot, but, back on topic.

Overall, stacking power for archery is a better solution (IMO), cause stillness is a great boost with a huge up-time.

The highest DPS rota seems to be longstrinder+rain+cordon on trash, and longstrinder+rain+ward on boss, with such a set-up you become a sniper with a canon... and there is no need at all to press TAB, so you can enjoy the ranged playstyle for 101%.

there are also other pure range rotations i use time to time:

my setups (still working on them):

    1) solo content, mobs arent one ”rotation=dead”:
Thorn Ward, Rain of Arrows, Cordon or Arrows
Aspect of the pack (plus companion) or Stormstep Action (with augment) and Aspect of the Lone Wolf

    2) solo content, mobs are onerotated:
    Longstrinder+Cordon+Rain
    Pack+Flackon

    3) Party dungeon:
    Longstrinder+Cordon+Rain
    Pack+Stormstep/Flackon/Seekers Venegance (rarely lone wolf)

    4) Boss fights:
    Longstrinder+ward+rain
    pack+seekers

    5) hard boss:
    Lonstrinder+ward+fox
    pack/stormstep+lone wolf

    6) buffer:
    longstrinder+hawkshot+ward/rain/commanding
    pack+stormstep

    7) any fights like Demonic Slaughter:
    rain+cordon+ Split the Sky
    pack+stormstep

my atwills are aimed shot+electric shot
my daylies are mainly seismic shot or disruptive shot or forest ghost

as companion i use the flame sprite now (with no bondings) or a cat, the sprite is better cause of combat advantage

if you like the ”take position, aim-fire-repeat” playstile then you archery is for you.

And just to add also. If you have an enchantment
like Lesser Flaming Enchantment on your main weapon.
It will apply to thorn ward. Don't think many know about
    that one.

I really dont see any reason to use flaming tho...
If not because it looks really cool.. And at that point terror would be an overall better choice.

Thorn is a encounter, if it crits, it will also use vorpal/ dread bonus, as well as rain of arrows. everyone knows that.
