Recently i m messing with the compatibility mode to see if it improve my fps. I m currently using window 7 and to my surprise, the game run very smoothly with Window XP ( service pack 3) mode but at a cost of audio driver not being used. The FPS is stable throughout the game with no drop even after changing the zone as if it was pre mod 6. Everything is stable and i began to enjoy dungeon and skirmishes again.
This make me suspect the audio is causing the problem and so i began to search on internet. I discover the file audiodg.exe might be the cause of it. It greatly hog up the CPU and might go as high as 100% depend if it is being used frequently. it also causes memory leak and is admited by microsoft themselves.
So this pop up another question, if this audiodg.exe is needed to run not just this game but all media that play sound, why do other game or source of media is not affected greatly as in this game? Is it the interaction between NWO with audiodg.exe is having problem? i dont know. I m not a programmer so i leave it to the developer to test it out themselves.

I have some kind of same problems :
I have 2 computers, one with an intel corei7 (but a notebook) and one with an amd phenom 4100 (a desktop)
I have no lags with the core i7, but many problems when I use the phenom, and yesterday (I played with the phenom) for unknown reasons, the effects sounds suddenly disappears from the game.
AND the problems of lags and freeze disappears with it.
This make me think, the processor is not the cause of the problem, but maybe the compatibility of the soundcard or the management of the game with the sounds drivers.
