Trade Bar Store New items are available in the Trade Bar Store: Elemental Dowsing Rods. These rods increase the drop rate of Elemental Motes for a limited time, allowing players to boost their progress toward the Elemental Artifact Weapons.
and
General Drop rates of Motes of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water have been increased from Heroic Encounters in Spinward Rise, Reclamation Rock, Fiery Pit, and Drowned Shore respectively.
But how many motes will drop now from the HE's with or without the TB buff? And will motes now drop regular from all HE's, or still only from the big ones?
Wow. I thought it was an insane grind to get my Daggers at 10 Min CD. I guess I won't be doing this on Alts now.
Actually, if enough people are playing, the increased cooldown wont make that much difference. As long as people keep calling out/posting the death times of the Boss Crab in the Zone chat, it should still be possible to switch instances and accumulate motes at a 'reasonable' rate. There were more than 15 instances up and running yesterday when I got my CW through the ordeal, all with useful info being posted.

Not surprising that the fix involved money. They should just have upped the droprate across the board from all encounters to make the grind less tedious, but gods forbid they ever do something like that! I'm glad to be done with the grind. Have the weapon set on 2 toons, not planning on repeating it on any alts.
Our pain is self chosen.

They're doing exactly that. Read the patch notes. They don't specify what the drop rates actually are now or will be in a few hours, but the patch notes do specifically state that the drop rates have been increased on all HE's.

I have a strong feeling that, without the rod, it won't take significantly less time to gather the required 100 motes with the increased spawn time of the major heroic encounters. Spend money and it takes you less time yes, but without it, grind some more and then some.

They did mention increasing the HEs in general, so maybe we can farm the other HEs and not have to worry about the dailies. Sounds like the daily HEs will be around 6 motes while the general HEs will be 1-3
it was bound to happen but maybe they drop rates on the other he. the points is i do things i get rewards, the chances to get something arent of my liking.
if they really fixed it i would go for the ones from demogorgon
I had time to run two HE's while the server was up. No rod did one crab run, and one trapped in the inn. The inn still didn't drop anything, so at first glance it still doesn't seem to be worth doing anything other than crabs. Which is disappointing, it'd be much more fun to dash across a map and race to newly spawned HE's than to just instance hop.

Pretty shady. Nerf the timers then sell a resolution. I'm thrilled I got that awful hamster on a wheel grind done with before the nerf hammer came.
Step 1: Find a problem people are having. Step 2: Find a solution to it. Step 3: Profit by selling the solution.
Pretty standard economics. It's just taken to a new level in the modern gaming industry.
Correction:
Step 1: Find a problem people are having. Magnify it. Step 2: Find a solution to counter the magnified portion. Step 3: Profit by selling the solution so that people can go back to (hopefully) the same level of the original problem.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***
I'm glad I put in a marathon effort last night and ground 100 motes for my fifth alt. That only leaves three level-70's who don't have the drowned set, and one can self-heal.
So they've nerfed the respawn rate and are selling us a solution (a rod with four charges). Each of those charges had better last for several HE's!
Make an existing situation worse and sell us relief. Ghetto move, guys -- really, really, ghetto.

From a role-playing perspective, I like it 1,000% better that it takes longer for the crab to respawn. HE is a hero crab, so he should take longer to respawn than most other mobs. This give his life and death more weight. And the addition of the special item so he drops more motes is also good from a role-playing perspective. It is like salt and lemon seasoning. If you want crab meat to taste good, you need salt and lemon seasoning. You cannot skimp on this. It is highly realistic that there are only four charges per salt and lemon seasoning purchased. When I buy lemons in real life, I cut them into quarters. It is always better to use too much lemon than too little when eating crab, and using full quarters is the best way to indulge in the delicacy.
I applaud cryptic on a job well done.

LOL what? They didn't increase drops. You still get a pathetic 1 mote.
ghoulz66, sometimes you have to know that what was intended isn't always going to be what is. Obviously it was not intended for the crab to always drop motes, because it did not have salt and lemon seasoning. Only with salt and lemon seasoning can you consistently have tasty crab meat. That means that before the patch, it was intended that the crab only drop motes once every 1/3 times, but now, with the addition of salt and lemon seasoning, it has a 100% drop rate. I once worked with a cook who would eat the food he cooked for the customers because he was hungry, and he would make another one for the customer.

Just a big fat nope. Crabs have always had a 100% drop rate. I tested. Slaad Invasion did not have a 100% drop rate. I tested. According to @asterdahl the epic HEs will still have 100% drop rate on motes. No extra seasoning required

This is correct, epic HE drop rates have not been adjusted. To be clear, "drop rate" refers to the chance an item has to drop, this does not refer to the number of items that drop from something. If a patch note mentions "drop rate" it's referring to chance, if the number granted is increased or decreased the patch note should read something along the lines of "The number of (items) rewarded from (content) has been (increased/decreased)," or "(Content) now rewards # (items), (up/down) from #." If the patch note ever indicates the opposite of the change that was made, we made a mistake and please do call us out on that. Hopefully this information is informative for understanding patch notes regarding drop rates.
Today's release will see some adjustments to the elemental weapons quests in the spirit of my previous posts in this thread. Here are the relevant patch notes:
The drop rate of Motes of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water have been slightly increased from minor and major heroic encounters in Spinward Rise, Reclamation Rock, Fiery Pit, and Drowned Shore respectively.
The frequency with which epic heroic encounters appear in Spinward Rise, Reclamation Rock, Fiery Pit, and Drowned Shore has been reduced.
Elemental Seeker’s Wands have been added to the consumables section of the Trade Bar Store for 45 trade bars. These items have four charges that increase the drop rate of motes from minor and major Heroic Encounters in their corresponding zones to 100% for thirty minutes.
These changes should relieve some of the difficulty discrepancy between quests by decreasing the dependency on epic heroic encounters and slightly boosting the drop rates from minor and major encounters. Earning motes solo or in a small group will now be a bit quicker.
These quests were never meant to feel like a quest to complete a specific epic heroic encounter 100 times. That being said we still want players working towards these weapons to be rewarded for gathering together and take on the epic heroic encounters when they're up, should enough allies be available, so while epic heroic encounters will be appearing less frequently (around twice an hour) the drop rate of motes from those encounters will remain at 100%.
In addition, for those of you who are looking to accelerate the process, the new elemental seeker's wands available in the trade bar store will provide you with four charges of a buff that will temporarily boost your drop rates from minor and major heroic encounters to 100%. This is, of course, completely optional.
We will continue to monitor these quests, and also examine the relative power of each artifact weapon. Thank you all for your continued feedback.

It could have been a fair and just 1 mote for small ones, 2 for medium, and 3 for epics. But no, they had to be greedy and unfair as usual.
Well, most of the time i'm getting less then 7 Trade Bars from each lockbox, so i'm not going to waste any of them for a time limited option to get more motes. Besides, there'll be probably better artifact weapons in the next module in a few months, right? I guess i will just sit back, relax and wait for the next artifact weapons round then...

Just to clarify the new TB item: "These items have four charges that increase the drop rate of motes from minor and major Heroic Encounters in their corresponding zones to 100% for thirty minutes." So it is not a chance, it is a fix drop for 30 mins/charge I mostly think and do the same as you but it is a good item for players can/want to buy it to get the arti weapons faster/easier.
Yes, you're right, chance was the wrong word in there, option would have been the right one.
And i don't see this as a good change, since the drop rate of Trade Bars from lockboxes is still the same. So in the end, it's just more heroic encounters to run, with even more waiting time between them...

Don't make me laugh. You will have to buy MANY of these wands. Do you think every player should be pressured into buying more keys and then wasting the bars on these overpriced low duration pieces of HAMSTER?
And in the end, you got motes FASTER before this patch went into action!
