How to farm RP?

cyencecyence Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 99 Arc User
I have been away from the game since mod 6 dropped. How do I farm RP? I have dragon hoard enchants and am happy to kill mobs mindlessly with friends. But it seems like the drop rate has been reduced? What should I be doing? I have my gear all set, but I need to get RP for one artifact neck piece, my artifacts, and my weapon and armor enchants. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I really think doing the Heroic Encounters in the Strongholds are a great source of RP. Other than that, I'd also suggest invoking (though those are character bound) and doing the daily quests in various areas like Sharandar and Dread Ring. You get RP for the rewards, plus whatever you get from your Dragon Hoard enchant.

Last but not least, if your leadership is 21+ you can get some nice refinement from that as well.

While the dragon hoard enchant may no longer be as good as it was it still drops stuff.

Sharandar daily quests reward 1 Green Thaum stone each. If you do all 9 daily quests, that's 9 stones 2500 RP points each. These will help rank up all enchants including weapon and armor enchants.

With that in mind, use the enchantments (Rank 5 is my preference) on your artifacts (not weapon artifacts).

For weapon artifacts, you have to use resonance stones or the "standard" RP stones like peridot, sapphires, etc. Resonance stones can be farmed in leadership - but we will see after tomorrow's nerf on leadership AD.

Dragon Hoard still drop RP stones so I still use them...not saying it's great or anything.

It depends what kind of RP do you need.

If you want to upgrade your Artifacts buy Rank 4 stacks from the auctionhouse, they are pretty cheap. In addition you can slot some fey enchantments to get account bound Rank 5 stacks (store them till a double RP weekend). [I recommend to upgrade your artifacts to rank 139 first because it is the cheapest power gain in the game even if you need to pay greater mark of potencies]

If you want to upgrade your Enchantments you also refine them with Rank 4 stacks or your account bound stacks.

The reason is that the ratio of one Rank 4 stack is 0.17 AD per RP if doubled (Artifacts + matching Enchantment) and still 0.34 AD per RP for basic costs. The cheapest thaumaturgic stone ratio currently is 0.4 AD per RP.

If you need to upgrade your Artifact Weapon and Neck+Belt you are pretty HAMSTER up.
To get the best out of the situation i would recommend that you use Enchanted Mulhorand Weapons instead of Artifact weapons. The weapon damage is in the most cases as good as an epic artifact weapon. If you play an TR the weapon damage is on the same level as a legendary one. You only miss the bonus damage on at will abilities + passive power + secondary stat and to unlock the last both you need also pay a lot of AD to get the powers and stats you want. So the Mulhorand Weapon is indeed a hilariously good and cheap alternative for artifact weapons.
Then you only must upgrade your Neck and Belt which is a lot easier because of drops. If you have the chance participate in a good Dragon Herald channel and run every hour or so the heralds. After a few weeks you should have 1 stack green resonance stones. If you continue the gathering and wait for an double RP weekend you have a good chance to get both to epic and someday to legendary (till the next module hits).
Edit: Also an good exchange is the Mulhorand Cape. You get around 1,131 stat points + an offensive slot. The epic artifact cape grants 1,194 stat points and the +3% action points gain per second. So it is not that of a bad deal. (it is simply cheaper)
