there is no incentive for staying in a tiamat instance, once you know its a certain fail, i can understand why people leave early, i think if you gave the top 5 players (on a failed instance) a tiamat chest key, it would give me for sure a incentive to stay untill the end, also this would reward the people who try there hearts out, even on a certain failed instance, and maybe these keys could be unbound so we could sell them on the AH.
Edit : they could also give the top 5 players (on a failed instance) a linus favour fragment, 4 fragments making 1 favour.
I think if that happened though, then no one would really try in tiamat, just try enough to get a key. and to get in top 5 for some classes is very hard to do, fail or succeed.

This^^^
not a bad idea OP, just that this^^^ makes it... not that good. (not saying it's bad, just not that good)
Fighting Tiamat is all about getting the Favors, the chest is just an added bonus. Some classes dont really even have to try and they get in the top 5. So if you make it about an unbound key, then you will have people just farming to get keys and sell. Then it just ruins Tiamat

Been seeing a lot of talk about why bother to stay if one KNOWS Tiamat run will fail. I understand where this comes from but one must consider the idea of a self fulfilled prophecy. There is a danger in this mentality since if enough people decide it will fail and so quit, of course it will fail and so they will be "right". But are they? Like the old adage says, "you never know till you try." Just something to consider.
Thats the problem, people quit at the black head when the timer gets a certain threshold. So If you see 6 people leave, why waste injury kits? LOL And lately too many people are being lazy and sitting on their throne watching people til the last round. Thats pretty sad itself.

it's math though, so the addage applies just fine. If the black/green dragons arent @ <25% & red dragon isn't down to <50% at first round, and all of them aren't down to <25% by second round, then it's like expecting 2+1 to equal 4. It doesn't matter if it's 1+1+1 or 1+2 or 3+0....you just aren't going to get 4. The fail is for all intents and purposes realized and you "know."
There's an opportunity cost to waiting around for the fail when the dps check just isn't met. Personally, I'd rather farm, do dailies, pvp, ANYTHING rather than waste another 10-15m for the chance of an egg on an obvious dpa check fail.
I love the optimism, but come on guys....the desperation reeks!!
But it isn't straight across like that. Not simple math. Slightly more complex math is more like it. Sometimes certain heads die faster than others. The gems aren't divided equally among players or something. I have had more than 1run where there was only 2heads down 1st run. And we still won. Peter principle if you think you will fail you most certainly will.

THIS^ I've had runs like this too. sometimes, people join to attack a little later, sometimes they don't do the max damage they usually do at first, and this is where debuffs/buffs come in. you'd be surprised at how much damage people manage to squeeze in at the last second lol
So, are you saying that its possible to beat when you don't even get Black down first run? If you REALLY believe its possible when you can only get BLACK to 50% 1st run....your math is very far off.
Edit: And yes this has happened to me multiple times
People do the basic math of "I have 2 runs at the heads so if we don't reach 50% on the first round we most likely won't reach 100% by the end of round 2".
Then they leave.
If the zerg hasn't even got to red by the end of round 1 then even without leavers there's a v. low probability the group will "find" the missing dps.
I'm ambivalent on the stay or go issue, I usually like to fight to the end but yesterday some muppet glitched the black head. My first thought was to go straight to green but 10 ppl were already heading for the door so I gave up and left too.
The campfire area should have a similar boot to pvp (with shorter timer) as I personally find ppl hanging out to get the consolation prize somewhat offensive. I'd set it at 60 seconds, then auto-kick from Tiamat plus a 90 minute ban so they can't get into the next one either.
Consolation prizes should only go to those who tried.

I would like to see more loot drop during the cleric section (I RARELY get refinement stones)....this is BY FAR the most abused section in Tiamat and you can guarantee without fail that there will be a few people hanging out at the campfire while the group protects the clerics. I don't need loot flying all over the map, however some incentive to actually contribute would vastly improve peoples contribution during this section of the run
As for those who kick their feet up at the camp fire after a failed run....i don't really see the reason to get worked up over it. If you don't have the DPS on the first run nothing is going to change by the 2nd or 3rd run. The fact is everyone tried, however simply because you're out there foolishly getting slaughtered for the next 15 minutes doesn't make you more deserving of rare loot. The real issue is those who bail when the red dragon head hasn't reached the halfway point. The first run is always going to be your weakest run due to the length of time it takes for the farthest group to reach the black dragon head...however this isn't an issue on the red dragon head as everyone should reach it (if they are paying attention) before it even starts to come up thus you should be able to make up the difference.
Ultimately Tiamat is nothing more than an example of what happens in a video game when you try to get 25 random people working together as a cohesive unit. More often than not you're better served banging your head against the wall.....
Mind you, saying that I find if I stick to certain times of the day and go in at a 'specific time' I get a win 90% of the time. I think it's just a case of going in when the older players are on which for me (in Europe) is 9am-midday then again after 8pm.
That 1pm to 8pm time slot is filled with kids who don't know their a**es from their elbows.

Tiamat should now require level 70 and an item level of 1800 to enter.
