I've been slowly leveling up the 60-69 bracket to learn to pvp with my TR in this game, here's my current build:
Race: Human
Build: WK Sabo
Dailies: Hateful Knives, Lurker's assault
At wills: Disheartening Strike, Cloud of Steel
Encounters: Smoke Bomb, Shadow strike, Vengeance's Pursuit
Feature: Tenacious Concealment, Advantageous Position
(everything at 3/3 above)
Wearing mostly the blue lv 65 battlefield executioner set (yeah hp/tenacity = I die a lot less), couple of mulhorands I traded for after selling a couple of GMOPs, and the blue horn for artifact. Yeah, I listened to kweassa from another thread, call me an idiot but wow sure survives fights much better
Enchants mostly rank8s, with 1 rank 10 savage.
Stats are: 20 str 12 con 20 dex 17 int 12 wis 16 cha
43k Hitpoints (50ish buffed in pvp)
Ratings are (lv66):
8355 pow
3495 crit
3552 ap
1420 tenacity
2889 lifesteal
1393 defense
1718 deflect
850 mov
Rest are 300 and below
Paragons are:
Sabo: Shady prep, Distracting Knife, blood soaked blades, Gutterborn's touch, shadowy opportunity, ambusher's haste, one with shadows.
Executioner: Arterial Cut, Vicious Pursuit
All feats at 5/5 except VP, and of course one with shadows...
Boons: living wall, vanguard's resolve, dragons claws, dragon's shadow, draconic armorbreaker, reliquary keeper's strength, evoker's thirst, dark fey hunter, fey elusiveness...Gawd boons take forever to get...
Observations and notes:
So fight usually starts with:
Stealth > DS > VP > SB > Stealth > CoS spam > SS > more CoS Spam
Target usually dead. Against OPs if HK is up I'll use that after I got them down to 30%hp. With this build you have to be aggressive as heck or you get overpowered...So yeah, I'm that rogue that runs into the middle of 5 people and <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> them all off...Usually you get a bunch of folks running around like chickens with their heads cut off...Then I stealth and dps down healers > other casters > other rogues then help with other classes.
Always heads for node 2 or sometimes straight into the enemy's home node. Its amazing what a bit of pressure in the beginning can totally disrupt the other team's tempo...
I've been doing ok, about 50-60% of my dom games look like so:
But I think its just in this bracket (60-69) a lot of people new to pvp with awful gear and not much experience at pvp (I play about 6-10 dom and 3-5 GG each session, I don't pve much). Rest of dom games are 1:1 to 3:1 KDR (yes I know KDR not a great measure of how good you are but its the only one I can relate to). I sadly don't have win percentage anywhere close though...
I do worse in GG, I keep running into the blob hehe
Yes I fully am aware I have a long way to go, I'm still pretty terrible and fumble through rotations in the heat of the battle etc., so I am taking my time in this bracket to learn...
Biggest problem? CCs. If I get choked or rooted solo, if I survive, I teleport, SB, stealth, DS, CoS spam, SS, spam, lots of moving and repositioning, and usually wins with what little HP I have left. I fight until I'm dead, and I usually win if I stay aggressive. If more than 1 I'm in trouble. Perma stealth rogues give me problems, but usually if I land disheartening strike while stealthed they run for the border and die somewhere away...Most of them are predictable and get caught in SB and die anyway. I usually don't try to take on twinked OPs.
Questions:
I have a feeling my stats are kind of spread out...Can't decide what to focus on (yeah I rolled low in int but tried putting points into it thinking it'll reduce timers...Haven't paid attention if it makes a difference).
Do I have my priorities straight in a fight?
Any suggestions on artifacts?
Er any suggestions in general, am I an idiot for missing something obvious, how can I be more efficient?
My armor crafting skills are all almost lv20 (18-19ish). What should I focus on in terms of armor kits?
I sold my soul for a perfect vorpal...What should I get for the armor enchant? I'm borrowing a soulforged enchantment from a guildie atm...Sorta kinda works...Was wondering if there is something better?
How to reliably take down OPs...Can't do it without my daily, even then if they even have a sliver of health left...Full heal bs hate it. This is probably due to my lack of knowledge on OP rotations...Help plz
I do apologize if I seem ignorant ahead of time...That's because I am, any suggestion/reco is appreciated
Comments
When you realize that GG is not run like Dom... you will do better in GG. A TR cannot play GG the way that everyone else does.
SF has helped me kill people and I like having a second chance to run away... instead of dying. Some choose to rely on Negation to save them. Others, like rustlord, choose to use the Elven Battle. That is all personal choice.
The best enchant for a TR is now looking like Lightning... AoE stuns... which is more perfect for Scoundrels than anyone else.
You should try using Courage Breaker as well.
70 bracket is going to be a bigger challenge then you will ever face.
The going set bonuses for TRs is the Lostmauth Set... though I have heard of people using other sets.
I know that others will give you some similar and some different comments...
Also... there is one thing that I see in the match that you have posted. You seemed to be more about your doing well than your team winning. The score was way too close for your numbers to be based on capping... and killing when you have to.
You appear to be a Search and Destroy TR... which is great... but it is not going to work in 70. It would be better to develop a sustaining play style before you hit 70. That way you can build up to something different. If you don't there will be a rather rude awakening...
Oh, that game was 4 v 5...I was running with the GWF a lot retaking nodes...TBH probably KS'd 5 off of him. Was too busy running back and forth between nodes retaking them, most of those kills were on node, cause we had 1 less person on the team...I did hold enemy node for a while (the 2 MI TRs keeps coming at me, killed one guy 2x one guy 3x holding their node then my luck ranned out)
I'll give courage breaker a shot...
Let me know what I'm doing wrong in GG, I'll admit I'm a bit clueless on that map...Usually from the get go I'll go 1 node farther, usually only 1 or 2 enemy there. I'll go in kick their butt or DPS one down really quick, keep the other one busy until reinforcements arrive and prevent them from capping (though I don't know how this works now with contesting change).
Then the eventual blobs will run into each other...If we win I'll stay to hold the NPC node...If we lose I'll try and stay alive and pick off stragglers trying to chase me.
Then I'll go try to solo cap or hold nodes. This is where I get reamed a lot, teams seem to run in 5-7 man blobs a lot, maybe my evasion skills just suck, but I get CC'd to death and they reveal me from stealth too quick...And here is where I wander and get into fights out in the open...Maybe I should only focus on stealthing past enemies? But that lone CW is just sooooo tempting a target...
3K IL WK Sabo TR
Trying to suck less @ pvp near you
Said so you better stack recovery rather than having wasted points in int.
Recovery goes 200:1 where other stats 400:1 this means 200 (400) points for 1%. In other words 2 points in int are effective like 1 point in another stat.
Last i would focus on lifesteal or deflect.
I m trying deflect since i have my ideal vision of how a tr should work..that doesnt mean optimal
