Greetings!
If you’re reading this, then I am dead...wait...wrong message.
If you’re reading this, then you’re interested in joining a guild (I hope). Well, you’ve come to the right place, but unfortunately, it’s not too easy for guilds to sort through all these posts in regards to finding prospective members. A little proactive effort goes a long way so below are some quick communication tips for those of you who are seeking like-minded players to join up with:
- Use the current guild list that is sticky’d at the top of this forum. This is the easiest way to find info on the guilds in-game so that you can learn which groups match what you’re looking for as well as whether or not they’re recruiting. You’ll also learn the point of contacts (POCs) so you can reach out to them.
- Try to use XBOX Live messaging or in-game mail to reach the guild POCs. This may differ for each guild, but most should more than happy to have an easy means to send you messages back rather than the chat-window. This also allows for quick and easy party invites for faster and clearer communication.
- Be patient...especially if communicating in-game. As we all know, the in-game chat is mess at the moment. Your in-game private messages to guild POCs can be easily missed so don’t give up if you don’t get a response. Just be sure to double check you’re sending messages to the right person!
- Be clear about what you’re looking for and how you play. Do you want to focus on just PvP (keep in mind PvE is required to advance your character to competitive levels without spending real money)? Do you want to play with more mature gamers? How active are you? Share your in-game goals...if a guild can’t help you reach them, you should find another.
- Know what will be expected of you. Don’t be afraid to ask what rules there are. All guilds will have different policies when it comes to their bank, gearing up, member ranks, activeness, etc.
- Don't get discouraged if you don't get accepted right away. Some guilds may be overflowing with members and/or your specific class...especially with launch just a few weeks ago. Just keep moving forward with the advancement of your character and your search. Most guilds will be trimming away the excess fat in regards to their inactive players in order to reach an solid active player base so openings can be just around the corner!
Hopefully these few tips help anyone who is new to Neverwinter and/or the MMO scene find a group they can roll with. Good luck out there and see you on the battlefield!
