Aritfact new levels

Just a general question about the new artifact levels

I currently have 2 level 99 purples artifacts that hasn't been upgrade to legendary yet just need to GMOP to get them to legendary.

The question I want to ask is that lets say I leave my artifacts on level 99 and don't upgrade them. What will happen when the new module comes out. The new level for the purple artifacts is 96 down from 99. Will my artifacts be scaled down to lvl 96 to accommodate for the new change or will it retain its current level at 99.

If it will scaled down to compensate then I will have to upgrade it before the new module comes out.

Scale can be changed but the more important is that the amount of RP you have put in these artifacts will still remain. That's all I can say for now.

You are confusing item level with refine rank.

Your item is refined to level 99, that will not change. Its gear score value, however, is being changed to an average item level of 96. Average item level is just a fancy new way to calculate gear score. It has no effect on how many ranks you have refined your item too.

your artifact level will not change, the numbers is that patchnote refer to how your artifact will influence the average item level, the new gear score

The only reason not to upgrade it to Legendary by spending 5 Gmops is if you are thinking about refining it into another artifact of the same "class", i.e. Union to Union, cause then after the refining, even in a double rp weekend, your new artifact will not be legendary but a few levels below legendary and that means that you lost the 5 gmops of the upgrade.
