Foundry Encounters don't keep costume when transforming

There are some encounters in the game with the ability to increase their size and strength, such as the Foulspawn Berserker, and the Cult of the Dragon Black Dragonwing. In the foundry all encounters and NPCs can be given new costumes, but if I attempt to give either of these encounters a new costume; that costume goes away when they grow and the illusion is shattered.
