In essence, 'farms' are no longer more productive for drops. The number of drops from a farm are less than those you are likely to get in normal map areas in the same amount of time.
I tried the farm route in this recent round for the gifts and averaged 3-10 per foundry quest undertaken which in turn were between 15-20 minutes each. In the same amount of time at Dwarven Valley, I could farm twice as many gifts and find other useful drops too, not to mention get some quests out of the way whilst I was at it.
Best way to "farm" for me has been, do the usual daily quest run (if you have 1), and then continue leveling some alt. I just level and the gifts/boxes/etc just drop and I take them without even looking at the number raising.
I leveled my SW during Tymora's Event and he colled around 230 gifts. (+10 from each of other chars I have).
