How do you make Friendly combat NPCs?

So I was playing on foundry, as we all do from time to time i'm sure. But I'm there headbutting my desk, i've read the wiki which I found to be less then maddiningly unhelpful in so far as it says "this is that and thats what its for" with no detail on HOW to use what its for. I've plaied a few foundry quests recently and noticed that people have managed to get pastrols that DO kill other unfriendly NPCs as well as combative Following NPCs that follow you when an item is used or just because you have finished talking to someone.
So my question is how do I make one of these NPCs? All I seem to get is unfriendly incounters. :/

in the "guards" and the "aventurers" sections from the battle encounters, there are some that say "friendly" those will fight with you.

Put an NPC or NPCs on a map. Give them a nice dialog, for example: NPC: hi [charname], do you want me to help you?
    player: sure!
    NPC: Alright!

1.You need to find an encounter described as "friendly"
    2. put them on a map in the same place you have the NPC
    3. Give the encounter the same costume as the NPC and set it to "appear when" "dialog prompt reached". Choose "Alright!" prompt.
4.Set the NPC to "disappear when" "dialog prompt reached", choose the "Alright!" prompt.

    And that would be it.

P.S. Ofc you can just put that encounter there, if you don't want any dialog to occur.
