I just noticed I have received 2 account guard notices, one yesterday, and one today about an hour ago. I have not logged on to neverwinter in quite a while however. I changed my Arc password, and I am now patching the client, but I don't know yet for sure if the game is still secure.
I hope that having my email password different from my game password has saved me?
But there is still the issue that my password must have been cracked since they tried to log in from a different IP.

That does sound suspicious. I'd contact support. Soon as you log in, check your AD and your enchant slots. Those appear to be the first things to go. But contact support early before checking that to let them know whats up. If any damages happen, they'll let you know what to do.

Make sure to scan your computer for rootkits/spyware/viruses that may be logging your keystrokes or reading your email as well. Once you've done that, change the password to the email said account guard messages were sent to.

The good news is without the Account Guard code they could NOT log into your account. But the first thing you need to do is to change your ARC Account Password (I see you mentioned that you have) - as long as you've done that, you should be good to go, no further action is required on your part.
I've been playing Cryptic games for going on five years and I've experienced this a few times. Before Cryptic announced Account Guard I learned of a "hack" because I was in game, kicked off with a message that only one client is allowed into the same account at a time. (!) So I immediately changed my Cryptic password and all has been fine since (this was when Cryptic was still owned by Atari, before Perfect World).
I've since received account guard notices twice - and in both cases it was through Gateway (through Star Trek Gateway) where apparently 'net bots scrape web sites then try to crack logins.
As long as you don't supply that code, you're safe. And I actually appreciate that the code expires every month or two even on those browsers/computers already authorized (even though some fools actually com pain about this).
I sometime get messages that I tried to log in from another computer - but I think it may be to do with having a 4G Mobile Dongle. It used to happen with Steam as well.
But regularly running up-to-date antivirus is absolutely essential for any on-line activity.
I'd recommend to not use facebook and/or other social media platforms. Hackers get all the needed info from there. (people tend to use the same or similar passwords and account names for their games and these websites.)

Besides, getting spied on 24/7 by the government is also not the greatest thing to achieve. Right when facebook launched i knew it's real purpose already. How many people fell for it, since then? Billions? *tinfoils up*
