GF Mod 3 Artifact... useless?

Took a look at the stats for the GF mod 3 artifact. 50% damage reduction for one hit, every second, for 10 seconds.
No damage boost, no healing boost.

Can someone convince me that this is a particularly strong activation bonus for a GF? Is my initial impression that this doesn't do very much for GFs accurate, or am I missing something?

    Find me one scenario where the Devs actually said they enjoyed playing the GF class; Even Sominator's weekly powwow groups never had a GF in their group. That should tell you something about what the Devs think of the GF and how everything they release for the class will look like that artifact: useless.

    Oh let's not forget what the artifact also hold one of our near and dear stats , DEFENSE!!! Moar Definse! :P
