What are we doing wrong? Dread Vault and Thoon Hulks

I recently tried to run Dread Vault with my guild and we couldn’t clear it. However comparing our run to videos on youtube I can’t figure out what we are doing differently. Specifically if you look at videos like this one, during the boss fight the party only fought one Thoon Hulk the rest minded their own business and eventually despawned even. Meanwhile we keep aggroing them consistently.

Did they change the mechanics of aggro on them? Is there some secret me and my guildmates aren’t getting? I ask mainly out of curiosity more than anything because after also having the second campfire not work correctly making us start all the way from the first one…I have no desire to run this dungeon again (but that's a whole other complaint).

    the thoons spawn every 60 seconds or so, one on each side (though there is some minor variation in their spawn point) and then they walk to a predetermined spot. If they "see" any player they will aggro, otherwise they will despawn. If you are careful you can avoid fighting any thoons. If you are not, yet fight in the right spot, you can get away with only fighting 1 thoon spawn.

    Basically you are too close and are aggroing the thoons. If the party is basing out of the back left corner, then all players need to be inside the square when the thoons spawn and start walking towards you. If you want to fight just 1 thoon, then directly in front of the square, near the green acid pool, just inside CW/HR range of the brain but out of range of the tentacles, then you will only get the thoon that spawns in front of you and not the one on the far left.
