I got my swashbuckler at my 7th attempt. Very glad at that since it's a nice companion.
How about you guys, how many attempts did it take you, or how many attempts did you already
do with no success?

Do you have to be 60 to get it? I've had no luck with my other chars that are below 60.

4th try, though I've run several since and haven't seen another.

    Edit: Level 60

Ya I took a bit of a hit on the first one but I bought that one late last night after running it a few times. When I got up this AM they were dirt cheap so I bought a bunch of them under 40k

Lucky me got the companion on my first run, right after the event started... I think it was the reward for making it through the rubberband lag-fest.

Luckily, first run. I know that's not common though.

I managed to get enough of the CTA currency to get 3 weapon transmutes (600), and I still haven't seen one. I'm not expecting to get lucky.

After at least 8 tries on my CW and at least 4 on my GWF, my TR got his on his 4th try.

RNG can be a cruel mistress. i got my first on my main (lvl 60 CW) after 4-5 runs. then i switched to one run per alt and i got another one on my level 40 HR... so after another 5-6 runs. i did about 4 runs on my main today and thus far nada.

Took me three runs on TR. Need to keep farming for the transmutes though.

Btw... if you are farming for transmutes, remember you can run the CtA event on the Gateway. I'm averaging over 30 medallions per run while sitting in my office at work.

    How do you do that?

In the Sword Coast adventure. There is a special area for it (just like there was for the winter event).

    choose your character.
    click on the dice icon.
if you've never played sword coast adventures before, you will get a free normal (white) companion for completing the tutorial.
the special event is right, mid-center.

    good luck!

Melodhyr, I think the question he was asking is how is he doing that at work.

In which case, Melodhyr gave the correct answer. I'm running the Storm the Keep adventure on Sword Coast via the gateway.

You can play SCA at work because it's a browser-based game.

I noticed that as well. Still better than the quickling who completely forgot his sword, but still tries to stab people with it.

Anyone else think it's weird that the "swashbucker" has a sword and shield? I was expecting an Errol Flynn type of character with a rapier and possible a parrying dagger of some sort...

This is actually correct. The term "Swashbuckler" is derived from "Swashing The Buckle", or striking the small metal shield (the Buckler or Buckle) as a challenge in combat. Basically it is Old-Timey for "Come At Me, Bro!".

'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

That article only mentions what you posted as a possible origin of the term. It goes on to describe rapier use and fencing... Anyway, the large domed shield the swashbucker has is definitely NOT a buckler. The wild hunt rider companion has what I'd consider a buckler...
