Quick version: I have one TR lvl 60, and I'm quite happy with her. I also have one of every other class, plus a TR lvl 22. I'm happy with the low-level TR too, but I would love to be able to simply switch her class entirely. True, I could delete her and make a new one instead, but a) that would mean I would loose everything she's got in her inventory, her ADs, profession progression and so on, and b) she has the golem-companion from the Zen-market. I can't give that to anyone else, so if I delete her, the companion (and money I spent on it) are wasted.
It's not a big deal yet, but when we get the next class, I would love to switch the TR over to the new class instead. No worries about the current skills, gear and all that, it's no big deal. I just want to keep as much progression as possible.
If that's not an option, will multiclassing be an option waaaaaaay down the line?

In general, I don't have a problem with this, but I do have one concern: Would you, (or anyone else that likes this idea), be accepting of the fact that you would no longer be able to use *any* of the class-specific gear that character was using? I wouldn't expect the gear to become unbound or otherwise changed over to the class you now became...
Also, if you used this while leveling up, and had class-specific quests active, would they be forcibly dropped, or would/should you be allowed to complete them?
Would you expect to be given any sort of starter gear for your newly chosen class, or no?

Quick note that you don't need to lose ADs from a character, as you can transfer them across your account using the Zen/AD exchange. Simply make an offer to buy Zen that's ridiculously lowball. The ADs will be tied up in the exchange. Cancel the offer, and they'll be deposited back to the exchange, ready to withdraw on the character of your choosing.
(I don't really care about class changes one way or the other. I wouldn't use it, but wouldn't object to others doing so.)

I would like this feature too, My guardian fighter was ment to be a paladin, and when that class comes out I would like him to transition to that class. I would be willing to give up all my gear and stuff, just not my levels and enchantments. Having to re-perchase my mounts and HAMSTER would be crippling.
A way to ease the pain of gear, would be to "issue" basic green gear and allow all owned gear to be transmuted to astral diamonds of proper value.
This forum set up is absolutely horrible, I cant even figure out how to get my knight of the feywild title.
I would have to vote no. I can already foresee the disaster that this would become. Nice idea, don't get me wrong, but this is something that could not be implemented.
No to this idea. You can transfer your AD to another character you already own. The gear would be of no use to the character, so why keep it? Any mounts you purchased are account wide already, so you would not lose them. The only thing you really lose are the companions you have with this character. Levels 0-60 besides being half of the game, are also there in order for you learn how to use your class. How do you know which powers and feats to choose? How many times do you want to buy a power respec token in order to get your character right. You would have to buy all of the gear just so the character would be able to do the basic quests. Alternatively why should you be handed green level gear just because you decided you wanted to do something different, when everyone else had to slog through hundreds Orcs, Skeletons, and Imps to get theirs? There are already any number of options available to you if you want a new character. You can delete an old one, you buy character slots, or you can save a character slot for when what you want becomes available.
The ability to dual class/multi-class would be good if they ever introduce that. That would just open a great deal of possibilities for the players.
No from me. This is a bad idea. People would just keep rolling toons that are currently OP and some classes would become extinct very quickly. Especially that you can use the same enchantments on multiple classes and the standard gear is very easy to obtain. Once you implement such a thing 90% PvE TRs, HRs and GFs are gone from game. Also, in end game you would very soon see CWs, GWFs and DCs that dont have basic knowledge of their characters

As long as it would put you at lvl 1 (we don't want someone changing their class and immediately going into epic dungeon, right?), unequip all your gear and delete any class quest rewards you might have had, I don't see a problem with it. Call it 'Rebirth', or something like that.
What I'd like to see is a way to unbind things when deleting a character. That way if you have that cool bound companion but your toon sucks you could delete it and have a pop up with the option something like "XYZCharacter has been deleted. Would you like to transfer bound companions to another character?" This would allow cryptic to stop characters from just transferring bound items all the time as it would only work when the character was deleted.
I'd really rather just have the "big ticket" times such as companions be account bound instead of character bound but I don't think that is gonna happen.

I am fully against buying classes. I feel the fundamentals that creates your character is the class itself.. When you give people the ability to change their class you will have a lot of inexperienced players for the classes also they didn't have to go through the hard work of leveling the class. Level a hunter ranger and level a cleric and you know there is a difference. I don't think should ever be implemented in the game. The game gives you a choice to delete the character or add slots. Level 20 or so doesn't take long at all to reach also there isn't any gear worth anything much at those level and any enchants you can pull off and send as well as transfer ad. This will lead to buying fresh level 60's that can be fully geared which I am fully against.
In general, I don't have a problem with this, but I do have one concern: Would you, (or anyone else that likes this idea), be accepting of the fact that you would no longer be able to use *any* of the class-specific gear that character was using? Yes, of course it would come at a price. If you are sitting there with T5-gear some day in the future and change your class, all the gear would be useless to you. But that's not the point. My point is more that it would allow us to really try out a class before we commit to it. Instead of playing 20+ hours with one class only to delete it, we get to keep all the ADs we make, as well as any companions we buy and the professions progression we make. Plus, some of us have the Cathurday capes and titles and want to keep them. I'm not a big fan of the GWF, but my GWF has both the Cathurday cape and title. If I delete her, I would loose both permanently (as I don't get it on my new characters). So what if I could simply change her into a new class I actually enjoy?
Also, if you used this while leveling up, and had class-specific quests active, would they be forcibly dropped, or would/should you be allowed to complete them?
The class-specific quests would be inactive, but can be manually dropped. They could be activated again if you change back to the class that had them, but you would still be lvl 1 all over again. Either that, or it could cost ADs to change class based on what level you are or want to be. So if you go from lvl 40 to lvl 1, it only cost a little bit. But if you go from lvl 1 back to a class that was lvl 40, it will cost you a lot more. Maybe 10k ADs pr lvl, so going to lvl 1 will cost you 10k ADs, but going back to lvl 40 will cost you 400k ADs. (just an example, so you get my idea.)
Would you expect to be given any sort of starter gear for your newly chosen class, or no?
Not really. You can simply buy all that on the AH anyway with the ADs you've stored up, or even craft it yourself (as you won't loose any progression you have made with your professions.)
As long as it would put you at lvl 1 (we don't want someone changing their class and immediately going into epic dungeon, right?)
Yes, I figured that was rather obvious. We can't simply level up to 60 in one class, then expect to be level 60 in every class. If you change to a new class, that class will be lvl 1. (with the possible exception of going back to a class you have already leveled up - for a major price, of course.)
Also, keep in mind multiclassing has been in D&D for a long time. How that would work is simple enough: Your max level is still 60, whether you have one, two or even three classes. In D&D, every class will have to be no more than two levels apart to avoid drawbacks, so if one class is lvl 5, the others can go from lvl 3 to 7 and still stay strong. But if one is lvl 2 or 8, you will get penalties. The classes in Neverwinter goes from 60 instead of 30, so the penalties for multiclassing would be four levels apart instead of two. So if one class is lvl 20, the othes can span from lvl 16 to 24 to avoid penalties.
Furthermore, all classes combined can only be level 60, as I said. So if you have one class at lvl 30, the other two combined can only be lvl 30 (both lvl 15, one lvl 10 and one lvl 20 etc). And last, when you change into a new class, it will start at lvl 1. But to avoid speeding through levels, every class will share XP. This way you could in theory have three classes at lvl 1 (for a max level of 20 each), but it would take as long to get to lvl 20 as it normally takes to reach lvl 20. The only difference is you can "pause" one or two classes if you want, so they don't get XP at all. Their XP will then rather be given to the unpaused class(es).

I'd settle for being able to wipe a character, but keep the slot open, with anything in the bank still belonging to that slot/character (like bank slots for instance).

And stuff that can't go in the bank, like companions, profession progress, ADs, titles and so on?

If it was implemented, expect PWE to charge a crazy amount of zen for it though.
