How do you level up alchemy? stuck @ lvl 3

This is ridiculous, I can't even get past level 3 in alchemy.

I have leadership to 20, so have 7 slots open. Hired 7 alchemy dudes, so have 7 slots to work on alchemy.

Apparently, there is some % chance to get a basic alchemical knowledge, although for me I'd say it's less than 5%, at level 3 no less! Frikken seriously? After at least 20 attempts at making the research, and all the other level 3, 2 and 1 potions, I've only managed to get just one basic alchemical knowledge. I need 3 more.

Am I missing something? Is there any point of even bothering with alchemy?

alchemy is like no other profession. you can only do one experiment at a time and you don't really need to tie up seven slots for it. and it may take some time to get the alchemical knowledge; you just have to be patient with it. some people choose to buy potions from the AH rather than make them because they're usually pretty cheap. the only thing you need then at the lower levels is to make mats and aqua vitae.

just like most everything else in this game, you won't reach level 20 overnight. it's going to take some time.

also we removed your commentary from the thread because it was unproductive and off-topic. are you asking for help or are you flaming alchemy?

just have a bit of patience with it. there's at least one potion that boosts your crit severity at level 20. sure you could buy them... but you could also make them for free. choice is yours.
