The story goes like this...
Ever since they were small children this one person has always hated the other. He has no reason to, but has decided he has to satisfy his hate.
He constantly bullies the object of his hatred as a child, is driven to become very rich as an adult so he can have the resources to continue his harassment of this other person, and he refuses to kill said person because he needs someone to hate.
Now as old men they've lived different lives. The hater has lived a prosperous life, but never marries because he's so focused on continuing the torment of his victim. The focus of his hatred has lived in poverty, very barely surviving and also nearly hopeless as every attempt to get himself out of his situation seems to always turn bad (thanks to his tormentor's constant sabotage).
Now the end is near, and the person filled with hatred has learned that he will die first. He searches and finds a ritual for a powerful wish spell. One that will even defy Ao's power.
The quest centers on trying to find the location of this character and stop him from using the Wish spell to ensure his victim constantly suffers and more importantly... to stop the man's soul from being permanently bound to the Wall of the Faithless upon his death (no matter what this man did or does with his remaining time no force in the universe will prevent his soul from being yanked into and being absorbed by the Wall of the Faithless).
Of course the player will fail to get there in time (the ritual will end up being completed), but... well... I don't want to spoil what happens next.
So is this sort of hate too irrational? One of my coworkers thinks so. Then again I like to think that this sort of hatred can be very genuine... after all, only a madman can love or hate with that much passion.
