I guess I'll put it this way. If I have enough AD I'll buy a stack or two of ID scrolls without a second thought. If I create a new character I would buy a companion and maybe some gear for them with AD. And if I find that I don't like that character after all, I delete them... with everything I gave them.
Granted I do have some value for AD, but I guess my willingness to throw it away like that comes from the fact that I have yet to pay any actual money into the game to purchas AD...
And we all know how the "gold sellers" feel about it. But what about you?
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"
"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

the value of anything is
the $ you are willing to spend to get it.
or
the time you are willing to spend to get X amount. ( use you hourly salary to figure this by the hour )
___
by the hour salary of $10 an hour, as a example:
$10 in Zen is 1,000Z, or over 300,000AD
____ maybe that's to high for a hourly pay... especialy since it's over the 24K limit of refineing,
by an hourly salary of $5 an hour:
$5 in Zen 500Z, or over 150,000AD
_______ darn we are getting a little bad here let me try again with a lower salary
by an hourly salary of $1 an hour:
$1 in Zen 100Z, or over 30,000AD
... **** it's still more in 1 hour at $1, than you can ever make in 1 day refinement cap... well, that cuts it AD is WORTHLESS!!!
just go out and get a job, and buy Zen... oh wait, if you do that, you are not actually playing the game any more, EVERYTHING worth anything can be bought with Zen/AD... no reason to go on quests... hey, I just found the way to not need gold for pots!!! stop going on quests!!!
currently, an AD to me is worth about 1/400th of a penny....
you get like 2k just for prayer every day. Buying 2k worth of ID scrolls once in a while is a wash... you lost nothing. You want to complain about AD prices, try taking a rune out of a companion or respec with diamonds... !!

I'll put it this way - ADs are more valuable to me than gold. I get all my characters grinding leadership tasks, and even go so far as selling bounty items that I don't want, for ADs. I figure that since ADs can be exchanged for Zen, that means that I can get the stuff I want by just being attentive to leadership tasks and by selling items I don't want or need...

Thats no problem, considering there is nearly nothing to do once you reach level 60 anyway...

Not really worth that much to me, but having more ADs in my account makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

I have a TR, it's a girl, I'm a guy, I'm a lewd guy at times..I wanted to see how sexy the TR Drow would look dancing seductively in the Jester gear, I dropped 680k AD on two items from the AH, then I pulled out my Credit Card and bought another 10000 zen. I'm a guy, I'm an idiot I have cash burning a whole my bank account. The cost of acquiring AD quickly to me is minimal, that's probably not the same for alot of players, I get that.
If I read your post correctly, you don't value AD much because you've never spent real money on it, I don't value it much either and I spend real money on it. Go figure..I'm confused now, what was your point and what was mine?

That's true enough. I probably don't value AD as much because I don't spend it on a lot. You are willing to drop lots of AD on stuff you want, even if it means converting cash into AD to get it. So money wouldn't be the reason why we don't value it. Okay.. now I'M confused... I only spend the stuff on what I need, and keep the rest for when I need more. Or for more character slots when there's enough of it. So I'm investing time into my AD whereas you're investing money? Now I'm more confused... I guess when it comes down to it, we value our game experience so much that throwing out AD to get what we want seems like an afterthought...
And then of course there are those players who seem to prize it highly to the point of hoarding it and never using it...

Here's a thought, do you value the time invested for a leveling a character? I'll invest hundreds of dollars in a game at the drop of a hat, yet I hate deleting a character I invested hundreds of hours into leveling...I'm not referring to just this game, I have two accounts on WoW with all level 85+ characters...I can't bring myself to delete any and just start another in their slot
HEY PWE take some advice from this...milk my ***..charge me 100.00 for extra character slots..it's a quick win cash burn.
"I never make mistakes, I once thought I did but I was wrong"
the Devs could very easaly, reduce AD, drops by ( 1 new AD to 50 old AD )
and simply place AD to Zen echange lowest AD posting at 1 AD, and it would effectively be the same.
ALL AD under 5KAD is a joke ( when looking at AD store prices )
and dividing 5K ad by 50, is still a 100 AD drop window.
______
stats are just as bad at giving "big numbers" that mean absolutely nothing
you could easily divide all stats by 5*(minimum lvl required to use gear) or 5*(minimum lvl required to use power/feat/paragon)
being a divide by 5, on non-primary stats at lvl 1, and divided by 300 at lvl 60
there IS NO REASON to have secondary stats and HP so *** high
in 2nd ed AD&D you had AT MOST, at lvl 60 1D10HP*60 + Con adjustment of at most a +5?
so at MOST you had 900 HP at lvl 60?
also weapons never did multiple thousands of damage in 1 hit
_____
NO NEED for these numbers to be padded.
have weapons/attacks do lower damage, but have players/NPCs have lower HP, and also drop less AD, but lower prices in AD store
keeping trake of a 3 digit number take less processing than tracking a 65 digit number, especialy when that process is triggered on dozens of difrent stats, and posably over 75 toons in an instace (more proccesses = more lag, less digits per number = less prosses needed per number
note: for some reason the forum's autocorrect is sudgesting words like "duck, or geese" when I try to type something like "instace"
so diregard any spelling errors, it's the forum's fqault for not haveing a proper spellchecker.
I find AD incredibly valuable..... because it can be turned into Zen. Which is a problem, because it keeps me from spending it on almost anything else in the game that costs AD. (like, I'm big into getting a nice appearance for my characters.... but there's no way I would spend the 50k+ to stick my favorite "appearance" armor onto my TR's actual combat armor. I mean, that's like 150+ zen! So other than buying a handful of Leadership workers, and a few ID scrolls, I've not been willing to spend AD on anything else in the game. I turn it all into zen.)
