I'm looking for ways to make AD

Okay, so aside from the basic ways of invoking, questing, etc, I have heard that people make AD on the AH. Albeit boring and perhaps unconventional, the AH seems to me to be a great way to make AD. But how? I know there is opportunity but I am just not seeing it. In fact, yesterday I bought my first hero for 292,000 AD and then I went to check the price today and they were 269,000! I didn't buy him to resell but nevertheless, if I had waited just one more day, I could have saved 30K. So maybe those of you with millions in the bank now can share what you did. Are all of the opportunities gone now?

For a time I thought that I could make money buying and selling enchantments. Buy low and either sell high or convert to a higher level enchant. Fact is, it's very difficult. For example, I was looking at a rank 5 enchant that was going for 5900 AD and I noticed that the same enchant in a rank 6 was going for 40,000 AD. Well, 5900 X 4 is only 23,600 and so 40,000 - 23,600 = 16,400 profit right? Definitely wrong as I found out the hard way. First, you have to use the wards when converting these. That is basically 3,300 AD per fail. Also, even though it shows that I only have a 40% chance of failing, I have either really bad luck or the odds are not correct. Sometimes I can lose 7 wards just for a single conversion! Then I have to take into account the 10% auction fee. All of the sudden that profit margin doesn't look that enticing.

I mention all of this because I just don't know how anyone is making AD on the AH. I'm not 60 yet so I'm not out there hunting down purples but maybe my time would be better spent just leveling. I guess if anyone is making AD in this game, they probably won't share there tips anyway with just 3 servers but hey, I just wanted to share my experience.

lol, you could apply for a Discover credit card and get over 6000 yen for it, then convert it all over into AD

So on another thread I started on a different topic, someone mentioned that the keys are going for much more than the zen shop cost. I guess that would be one example of a way to make AD but wow, how many keys would you have to sell? I could probably make more questing and invoking.

I wouldn't calling it boring or unconventional. Trade is a pretty standard way of getting rich, both in MMOs and the real world. As for boring... well, certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but I have quite a bit of fun with it.

Thanks to bots and gold sellers, enchantment fusion isn't what it once was. You have to know your statistics and profit margins VERY well in order to be able to compete with them and reliably make AD with enchantment fusion. Prices change all the time, sometimes dipping below the profitability line and other times surging above it. You have to know exactly where that line is to make reliable profit... and it too shifts up and down, along with prices.

There's still some profit in Alchemy, although margins are closing quickly and prices are dropping like rocks as demand and novelty factor are fading away. That's the trouble with crafting in MMOs: Something that everyone has access to does not have much value.

I figure there will always be at least some money in the crafting professions though, because so many people see the shiny AD rewards in Leadership and neglect all the other professions. Keeps the demand for shirts and pants up.

    Anyway...

There's no easy formula to making money on the AH... no secret that will shower you with riches if you only learn it.

It's all a matter of crunching the numbers, playing the odds, and predicting market trends.

yep.... buy Zen sell it for AD... that's how people are making enough to buy HAMSTER for like 800k AD 1 zen = ~340 or so AD last time I looked at the Zen vendor... you know they have a little auction thing right in game so you can buy AD right? I mean it's a complete scam imo but... it is there none the less....

    Farm Farm and more Farm
Pile it high then sell it on the AH cheaper than everyone else....
1 month playing this to date and I have had well over a million AD's...all converted into Zen for bigger bags and an epic mount :)

Oh, yeah and you can level up leadership you get rough AD for that a ways up.... I've started crafting everything and noticed just in the last day or so they are set up to scam you out of RL cash once again.... I mean it's just shameless.... once you get about halfway up say for example Alchemy... you need green crucibles x 4 to upgrade to a better crucible right? Problem is...where do you get the green crucible x 4? Well... maybe I'm wrong but I sure saw no place to craft those....which means... profession pack purchases! I guess you could buy them for AD or trade something for them....anyway yeah... I looked at a couple other tradeskills...seems to be the same deal. IMO just make all your characters work on leadership and just maybe... at some point...far off in the future...after you waste half of it on identify scrolls... you will scrape enough together to buy what you want for your character...OR yeah pay cash and convert zen to Ad buy what ya want and forget crafting.

you mised out, due to Binding changes for Live.
There is a major drop in stuff being able to be farmed and sold on ah for profit. So its farm other smaller stuff and take longer.

Playing the Auction House (when you aren't combat-farming a lot for new, found items to sell) is a serious time investment for most. Knowledge of what's currently valued, keeping up with/watching the daily/weekly price fluctuations, constant lookout for those low-bid deals, constant finger over the "bid" button to try to win those low bid items to resell, etc. I've had success with it in other games (without even doing dungeons/raids) but not tons of it here, because I haven't wanted to invest that kind of time/effort, with the way the game/professions/Zen market etc. are designed.

I play the AH a little sometimes, but I don't have any big tips to share, once I realized multiple characters and Leadership was more my style, that's what I focus on...at least in this game. It's not "millions in a day from selling some items" but it's a steady AD income at a fair clip. And no, I don't mean having 50 chrs. :D

omg...!! really...I'm full of HAMSTER eh..?
tbh I couldn't care less whether you believe me or not...fact is I have converted AD's to over 3000 Zen...bought 1 big bag (1000 zen) 1 epic 110% mount (2500 Zen) 2 more character slots (500 Zen ) oh and 10 enchanted keys (1250 zen )

All from farming gems...pots..and lvl 50 blues :)
But then I am bothered to put the work in
1 month to achieve this...think maybe your'e doing something wrong matey...just because you can't do it...don't mean others can't.

Went through an awful lot of jibber jabber for not caring whether or not anyone believes you. Never tried to do it in this game... common sense just shows the way you are stating you got over 1 million AD is a bunch of B.S.... but who cares what I think... have a nice day.

If you are a patient person, get characters in your 2 free slots to at least level 10 to start professions. Choose leadership and stick to tasks that grant ADs. Further, access the gateway when not home, (via a smartphone or computer), and keep those tasks chugging, IIRC, you get profession slots by getting a profession to level 3, then level 10, as well as getting to level 30 and 60. If you're able to get a hold of 2 purple or 4 blue profession workers of the same type, complete a task w/ a 100% speed bonus, (granted by 2 purple or 4 blues mentioned earlier), and you unlock another profession slot. Just keep at it, and the ADs will trickle in.

Level up mailsmithing... [because two classes use mailsmithing]. Download autoprofessionbot. Unlock 6 profession work slots. Set APB to gather high quality ore in first slot, and set the other 5 slots to mass produce steel rings. Let that sit for a week, you should have around 3000 steels rings. Each steel ring is worth 200AD on Dragon's AH. ...uhm... Profit? I just undercut everyone and sold a 999 stack for 100k, since I dont use the rings i.d.r.g.a.f.

Fkn noobs, use your brains. It usually works out.
