What Im talking about is a thread gets started about topic A which is not against the rules. Random forumite (not the OP) starts talking about how they were modded/disciplined etc...which is against the forum rules, but it not related to topic A. Instead of taking the post out, the entire thread gets removed. Then when someone tries to start another thread of the same topic, which theres nothing wrong with whatsoever, the thread also gets removed for restarting another thread. Being that trigger happy and using a nuke it from orbit strategy makes it look like you guys dont want certain things talked about, even though its not against the rules to do so.

We are very conscious of this Chai. 99+% of the threads on our forum at any given time are live and churning and go till the very end.

However, in rare occasions, threads get so far off topic, that the original conversation gets lost. In these cases, we'll try to get the convo back on track. Normally they do get back on track and that's the end of it... but almost every time they do not however, these off track comments will land in the Lower Depths or worse, because they cease to benefit the community.

When a thread needs to be closed or moved, you can bet there was good reason, and that the OP was PMed with not only the move notification, but also the reason.

The truth? Nobody has ever been penalized for re-posting a thread that did not break the rules of conduct on these forums. Period.

As long as you agree with the "Administrators" - and I use this as a loose term - most of them are fine. But if you dare argue or bring up flaws in a way they dont like, the endless rule loop protects them and they censor whatever the thread was about. We are not allowed to talk about them openly, or directly in athread, regarding their "work", in other than positive ways.
"No mouthing off at staff. If you have questions or concerns about a thread or post, please direct these to the forum mods and admins via PM. " And yet I wasn't answered via PM when I did so :P

Very... democratic. Very... 2013... Several dictatorships never started like this.... oh wait.

I do not entirely agree with your statment. I have on several occasions not agreed with moderators or PWE/Cryptic and voiced my opinion and the thread lived a long life and got it's fair share of visibility. In the cases when I have been 'moderated' I specifically starting tossing out directed hurting insults at PWE/Cryptic and when pushed to the dungeons (where my post is still visible mind you) I tried to post a response post directly targeting the moderators and expressing my disdain for their actions..that post was deleted without notice.

So, I think they are more than fair in letting us 'constructively' voice our opinions and gripes, it's when we get downright hostile and mean spirited that they step in.

ONCE AGAIN : Thank you Moderators for keeping me/us in check!

The sweetist part of an capitalist system...is you get to vote with your wallet. The market takes care of those that take care of the market..I'm still logging to run professions... but won't be spending another dime on the game..they either get it that were serious, or they don't. The last patch is just another swipe at passifism toward the players..

And I for one, probably along with the OP and others, thank you for doing that. :)

I think the only concern by some is the gray areas of threads that are borderline. I haven't seen any of those yet but it looks like others have. Oh well, in the end they can always start a new thread about some topic that doesn't violate the rules of conduct. The thread locking is probably the best method you guys have of curbing pointless flame wars. Not always the fault of the OP. So, thanks for that!

As soon as I find another MMO (beta or not) that will picque my interest, I 'm outta here (when is ESO beta starting?).

Yeah I know its early days for NW and all but really to me this is just a temporary time sink until something better comes out i.e. TESO/Wild Star or Arch Age Online.

Who knows in the time that takes they may actually shape this game into something I'd actually want to play long term, but atm I actually spend more time on the forums than in game cuz, well im just not that bothered tbh.

Edit: Ironically it wont let me post the rest of my comment for some reason have tried twice now *sigh*

2 more incidents of this since yesterday. Perfectly good topics. One or two people broke the rules. Instead of removing the offending posts, entire threads got nuked. Too trigger happy, and too willing to label feedback that needs to be acted on as "company bashing".

If the intent is to really make this all a better experience, then the concentration should be put on removing whatever violates the rules, rather than taking away the entire conversation because of the technicality of one or two people not keeping their posts within forum guidelines.

If you feel any thread was taking down immaturely, pm me privately please. We do not remove threads because we "want to" or because "one or two people broke the rules". The general public doesn't always have a grasp on why we close a thread, because it may have already been moderated multiple times before you see a thread.

As for criticizing PWE /Cryptic, it's a fine line. Trolling and personal attacks hurled at the company will not be tolerated, just as we wouldn't tolerate it against any other forumite. It's our role to ensure each and every forumite can come to this forum not have to worry about being personally attacked. That takes work, but that's our responsibility and we are proud to be in a position to be able to do something about it when the need arises.

However, reporting bugs and forum criticism are the best ways we can help PWE/Cryptic make this a better game. This is why all we ask is for any criticism to be respectful and constructive.

The concentration always is on removing posts that violate the Rules of Conduct. Sometimes unfortunately, that turns into a really large number, and it may make us look like the Swedish Chef on occasion. That's what we do 99.999999999% of the day and night. :)

Hey, Im swedish and take offense to that! Im forum butt hurt now (not really), and demand (kindly ask) your opinions regarding how PWE or Cryptic refuse to answer to the ongoing issue with the Founder's Pack scam? They wont talk, not on twitter, fb or here, that leaves you guys as our only real line of communication to them, since Customer Support is.. yeah.
