There's not a single viable thing for you do to by yourself in this game. You can't even slave away crafting* due to the long downtime.
Edit: I made a critical error in assuming people would understand I'm talking about end-game content which is reached far quicker than in any other MMO I've played. Two weeks in my case.
Matchmaking is broken. No healer in pvp? No chance of winning against equally geared and skilled opponents with a healer.
No healer in dungeon crawls? No chance of success.
No tank in dungeon crawls? You might be able to do it with double CW double healer but that's incredibly specific and rare.
Add in 60 second load times on Enclave everytime you get booted out of a party or need to relog when your instance doesn't load and the game becomes completely unplayable.
Also, where is vote-kick? Spend 45 mins crawling through a dungeon delve to have the leader kick everyone after the loot drops. Perfect party but leader is afk? Time for another 60 second load time and 2 min queue, only to repeat the process when you get into another party with 4 rogues.
The only thing you can do in this game solo is 4 Foundrys for a very modest reward of Astral Diamonds and green gear that is only good for 10 silver. It is completely not worth the time investment.
Fixes:
Obvious: Fix matchmaking. Both the process of loading the dungeon and add party balancing. Vote Kick, and Vote Add for when you have everyone but the healer, or assuming the party balancing is implemented, a party member leaves and you want to invite a friend.
Easy: Double the Daily Foundry reward.
Down the line: Single player content with AD rewards, and/or a chance at the same gear you'd get in a dungeon of the appropriate gear score.
Most of this is needed to ensure the livelihood of the game over a long term.
*I rather enjoy not having to spend hours sitting still to craft, but perhaps a secondary forge/barracks/tanning/loom to reduce profession time would be a nice alternative time sink.

Uhm, what? There is an entire quest storyline that takes you all the way to 60, and then there's the Foundry. You needn't ever group up in this game, for anything, if you don't want to. You might have to optimize your build for soloing, but then, it's an MMORPG; that's a pretty small hoop to jump through to avoid the "M"s.

Lolwhat, there's loads of soloable content in the game. Oh wait...
It is completely not worth the time investment.
Maybe if you stop treating this like a job and start treating it like the game it is, you'll have more fun with it

... I have played about 3 hours in a group. Maybe 4. By taking my time and progressing at a reasonable pace I am making my way through the game solo... so far.

Uhm, this. I hit 60 in two weeks with admittedly moderate to heavy play times, but considerable time sunk into learning the game and what to do. Two weeks is far, far under the target customer retention point.
you can solo your way up to level 60. on all classes. it might be challenging for specific ones, very challenging. but its doable. and the dev's are just rather slow at their job. they do have a plan for a queue system but are giving no details on it, so they say.
i would pay for an option to have additional summons at the same time. limit me to only having 1 summon in party and 4 when out of party. if its cross character summon slot i'd pay. then all skirmishes and raids would be open to the anti-social(me)

Foundry is, by definition, created entirely by amateurs. There are a couple gems in Foundry but I've sifted through dozens of quests with amateur writing and bad level design. Playing Bill's Tavern 4 times a day is not much of a game.
Furthermore, while Foundry is a nice, groundbreaking concept, it is not on the shoulders of the community to provide me with content. It is on the shoulders of the company who receives the money I spend on this game. If that is not an acceptable expectation for Cryptic/PW, then (like many) my money is better spent elsewhere.
Lastly, if you don't understand the carrot-and-the-stick concept (investment/reward or challenge/reward) then you don't understand anything about the appeal of MMOs to the mass populace.
If I wanted to read amateur storylines completely disconnected from the cannon of the world, I'd read fanfiction. I'm playing a video game made by a multi-million dollar company.
OP is 100% right, i leveled my dps class to 60 hoping to do some dungeons, gear up, stack some AD, in a word - enjoy the game. All i ended up doing is grinding my teath over broken LFG "tool" and being unable to get a group for anything by conventional means. Uninstalled.

I think the OP is specifically referring to there not being any epic content that you can solo and get the best gear out of . And in that regard, they are right. At the same time, *should* a person be able to obtain the best gear in the game by themselves? I mean, to some extent you can kind of do that as the fey seals can drop from the reward chests in Feywild, but that's usually one at a time, and only some of the time.
