I am trying to find out if Automated Profession crafting is against TOS. It is not an exploit it simply restarts your crafting tasks when they are done.

    "Automated"
    "not an exploit"

    From ToS:
You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or give you an advantage in the use of the Services which is not authorized by PWE, including but not limited to the use of 'bots' and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input.

So, if you're AFK, it re-starts your crafting tasks?

That's an "exploit," by my book.

    Automation is an exploit.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

Automation is not an exploit people! Automation is Automation which is against the TOS. Botting is never allowed in a MMO

Sounds like they should just add it into game as a feature, crafting is boring.

It doesn't play the game at all, it would use the gateway.playneverwinter.com website. Which can be accessed from anywhere.

It doesnt matter if it plays the game or not, as it is connected to your characters it is enforced by the same TOS. You want to bot fine, by making this post you can be sure your account has been flagged to be watched.

No different than me logging into the website every few hours and restarting my tasks. I wish there was an auto-craft/ easy way to restart a craft from the website or game but you currently cannot. Doesn't give me an advantage really, just takes laziness to a higher level and removes monotony.

Was looking for an official ruling from Cryptic if possible.

The same argument can be made of any automation. Which is why all forms of automation are against the ToS.

If it is, in fact, no different from you logging in and doing it, then why don't you just do that? Clearly, it *is* different.

True I guess. Crafting is just sooooooooo boring. Can I hire a rare slave driver resource to make my crafters work automatically?

Sure. What's minimum wage in your state?

Don't forget to pay your payroll taxes!

Right, because having to log in every few hours & manually restart is TOTALLY EXACTLY THE SAME as automating that task.

    /facepalm

Unlike a game client, there is nothing they can do to monitor how people use a website.

True. However, unlike the judicial system, they don't need proof beyond a reasonable doubt to take action.

They wouldn't know, OP might just be efficient with a stopwatch.

I'm not going to post how they would know. But it ought to be pretty obvious how this could be detected.

Nope, no idea. How would they tell with a website?

Considering that you have to log in, this is a false statement. Yes, they can, and probable do monitor what you do on the web site. As for detecting bots, there are ways from the usage reports to detect botting.

They could easily detect it if they were looking. Time to add random numbers! Just Kidding. I have spent money on this game and do not want to lose my acc.

How could they tell? To a website, clicking is clicking.

You're not technically playing the game while using the gateway; I honestly see no harm.

I myself would prefer an automation script that runs every x amount of hours instead of setting a timer to do it myself; complete waste of time and effort when there's no real difference made. Hell, some people set timers to wake up set things before going back to bed. That's harmful to one's health and should be done automatically.

Ideally, they should give us a 'repeat crafting for x amount of times' option.. though limit it to maybe 5-10 times otherwise it could be exploited to hell. (Run 2 hour profession activity 99 times, repeat!)

Maybe you want a bot to that do more then just crafting?

Seriously, why are some ppl evmen playing this game? A whole lot of ppl just afk'ing battleground and now you even want a "bot" that crafts for you? Come on, just quit the game...

Well they created a grind system for crafting, isn't like doing crafting is fun and compelling is it.

Good point about why play the game though.

I Love playing the game. Just not crafting. I don't want a bot to play for me, that part is fun. It's not like minecraft where you are stimulating some part of your brain crafting, you just click, pick mercenary, click, done. Repeat in an hour...
