Its the same crowd that thinks the game is all about End Content. I mean there is a large portion of the gaming community that would be just fine with starting at max lvl just so they can enjoy that "Magical End Game" content. I mean it would be cheaper for devs to stop spending so much time and money on quest story boarding and graphic design of the landscape if they did.
Me, I'm a journey person more so then the Destination type. I like looking around and seeing what I can find.
I actually LOVE much of the artwork I've seen so far (only level 22, I'm in no rush...). When I was in the Tower District I was like ''mehh, it's okay, dark orcish madness'' but after that I've seen some really pretty dungeons and areas and even quest areas. So yeah I love to actually look around, try to see if I can get places, hoping to find a secret or whatever and soak in the atmosphere.
Most people miss all ''secrets'' in dungeons\quest areas (as if they're hard to find with all the LOOK AT ME HERE IM SHINY!! stuff going on) because they're so quick to rush through everything. It's annoying even though I have to say I used to be like that as well. Skyrim somehow calmed me down greatly and opened me up to the joy of exploration That may not have been long ago, but it's been a huge change for me personally!
Old school Box set PnP here. Main character is a TR though i have a CW I'm trying out. Like many of you I like to take my time and explore everything everywhere. Found tons of stuff most others just run by even in the multi-player quest areas. The devs did an awesome job on the scenery and really getting the feeling for an area going. You have no idea how excited I was the first time I saw a trap and realized I could disarm it! That alone has made my play time as a rogue hugely enjoyable. I skulk through every instanced area/quest taking my time and really getting into being a rogue. If only I could set traps myself. I miss that from NWN.
And yes, I also spent a couple hours in town just exploring finding out where everything was and admiring the art work. Not to mention trying to figure out the UI and keybindings.

See? This is why I rush to the end-game! To stop worrying about outlevelling friends or being outlevelled!
Stop worrying about what your friends are doing, and learn to enjoy things at your pace. Are they going to stop being your friends if you play the game differently? Man I am so glad I have become immune to peer pressure over the years; life is so much more enjoyable living for myself rather than others.
