Guardian Fighter, your hotkeys and threat tips

So I've gotten bored of my rogue's playstyle and armor looks,
and I've decided to delete her
and try a guardian, again (want to keep a slot open for the next new class).
Last time, I got up to about the level where you can attack while holding guard up,
but my fingers really started feeling bad from holding shift constantly, so I stopped playing that class, temporarily.

So, I'm wandering what sort of hotkeys you guardians use for block and other skills,
to make them less taxing on the fingers?
And do you constantly hold down guard when playing,
because that seems kind of irritating somehow, or do you just time your block, instead?

Also, when you're in a group, sometimes,
using the taut skills, don't always keep aggro,
is taunt supposed to be so uneffective?
And are there better ways to get aggro other than speccing for threaten increasing feats and taunt skills?

take a look at Envy's DPS guardian guide, you only need to block occasionally, and can still kill stuff. you only need to block red attacks and tank the main bosses, use your AOE taunt when waves spawn on cleric, not too early, not too late, the dps should be taking care of ads, you tank the main boss and keep his attention.

So just time the block most of time, then,
except for boss/elite plus red marks, thank you!
I was worried everyone was holding it down nearly constantly,
    heh, kinda killed my fingers

Sometimes, though, when you taunt the enemies around the cleric, it doesn't work too well, though,
or perhaps I just needed to get to a higher level to get more threat increasing feats and skills

or abit more damage does it also, or a combination of the two...your pick. we got several good guardian guides out now, dps, hybrid, and turtle.

I put my block on the right click. I put my 2nd at will that was on right click to mouse button 5 which is where my thumb is. So It's cleave left click, block right click, and threatening rush thumb press. No stretching to that pesky shift! Also, I have mark on mouse button 4, which is right behind button 5.

At lower levels you don't really need to block. Also, any skills that are telegraphed are easily able to be maneuvered out of by walking away. No need to waste your block meter on those.

If you want your taunt to be effective you need to put points into the enhanced mark passive and make sure you have it slotted in one of your active passive slots.

Oh, thanks for the guides, guys, I had no idea so many existed,
I'll be sure to read them!
I'm definitely going to be based around a defensive build,
since that's usually what I enjoy when I play high armor characters

Yeah, I usually use block on right click in skyrim and other games,
so I bet that's why I was thrown off so much
I might put mark or rush on shift instead, and 'the at will that restores guard' on the mouse side does sound better
Those are interesting ideas, thank you for them!

Yeah, I thought it might be the feats, I just needed to level up to get them and use them, I bet
