I've been playing Neverwinter since 2014 (on and off). The lv 1-20 quests used to mean something. Killing monsters used to give you experience. The amount of time spent in each area used to feel rewarding. There used to be class specific quests. There used to be race specific quests. It used to feel like an immersive exploration of an area. Now it feels like a disney ride. Go to this area, do 2-4 quests, move to next chunk of that area, do 2-4 more quests, move on to next area, lather, rinse, repeat. Entire areas gone, others reduced to a shadow of their former selves. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I get it that things change over time, but I fail to see how these changes make the game better for anyone.

This is more or less the same as the past. No point to kill mobs because there were easier way to get XP faster. My character became level 80 (before reaching level 80 was also considered as tutorial) in might be less than an hour (if you knew how); might be 20 minutes. All the exploration was done only because of self interest (as self motivated) trying to get specific stuff such as bags and not because of advancement.
I also did the minimum in the past to get the intended stuff I wanted such as bags.
I too enjoy the little things - the exploring of the world, taking my time, questing for hours, days, month slowly through the maps.
Now I kind of like the game. Cause it just consumes - at least for me - less time but also opens the mid and end game more for players who dont want to play through all that leveling phase from 1-80.
So I get what you are saying but I dont think that the new playerbase, the younger playerbase would enjoy that just as much as us.
